I haven't played this yet, but I'll give it a chance, once I've completed my tasks in my busy life, but it looks nice and solid, and is simple like the title says, the world map looks good but is crowded with BGOs, play Super Mario Bros 3 or World or look at videos or screenshots to give you a nicer look of Overworld, The level with city buildings is creative with the use of no custom graphics, neat idea, the section with the Goombas isn't bad, but the placement could be more awesome! The first screenshot with the King, Toad and Boomerang Brother are odd to explain, as they are placed in the level, but not relevant to situations in the level, nevertheless, this episode is a good first try and a neat experiment that you just did, good job!

Background object, although on the world map they are referred to as scenery

I say: don't mix style like this; they really clashes togheter, either from different mario games then 8 bits plus 16 bits

You should listen to the feedback you're being given. Your episode has very poor aesthetics since you use a lot of graphics that don't fit together at all

If you want to keep it mixed up, SMB2 works well with SMB3, both don't go good with SMW's graphics, if you want to mix with SMW, you need custom graphics to make it appear SMB2 or 3 styled, but if you want to do what you want, go for it, but make sure you take the criticism and apply it to your future levels, episodes, etc.

This episode looks like my first one. In a way, I like how everything clashes, although my opinion is probably unpopular. This screenshot in particular is my favorite:

In the first screenshot there is this gray smb3 bgo which don't really fit to the green SMW tileset. In my opinion the most backrounds look better when they have a similiar colour as the tileset. But all in all it looks like a good first episode so far. :)

Like the mixture of 16-bit & 8-bit graphics in the project

ok just focusing on the graphics: The forest world map is way too cluttered with plants all over the place. Trees are strung like a chaplet with no gap in-between and they're even overlapping with each other or the path. At least 80% of them should be removed, and please use round curves instead of angular ones. Similar stuff for the levels: The contrast between bright icy blocks and pipeline background / dark blue bricks is an eyesore. The bottom screenie in the OP has pillars that end with nothing on top (cutoff!). And what's the grey pixelated rectangular spot in the screen you just posted?

tl;dr pls try to 100% step away from that kind of jumble.

Why is this particular screenshot so cut off? Also, why is Mario dead in it?

You've got a strange mix of a mostly SMB3 level, SMB1 platforms, and custom blocks, although I think it somewhat fits. I would need to see the rest of the level to accurately assess your work, however. In any case, keep up the good work, CD20Superness. Your project is definitely interesting.

The mix is just plain messy and there really shouldn't be two opinions about that.

I agree that his screenshot looks off-center and cropped strangely, but I do still like how the grey blocks, pipe, coin, and Bullet Bill Launcher mix with the purple background.
