Um.... Why did you make a random topic about wanting your 2.5 year old niece to read?!?

If you were serious about teaching her to read those aren't the words you would start with. And also recognition of shapes and letters is different than reading

leave your niece alone and try again in three years when she reaches an age where she can learn to read.

If I'm really not clear enough, then look, even when you can magically teach her reading at the age of 3, she won't benefit from it. She'll feel unchallenged at school and she may easily become inpopular or worse. I tought myself reading, writing and numbers autodidactically at the age of 5, and at school I found myself in an environment that I could cope with academically, but not socially and emotionally.

Patience my lad, i couldn't even talk until i was 3... take your time. Also, when it is time, just try letters.

Are you trying to learn to a 2.5 year old kid to read these? Believe me, it is impossible.

I'd say the members of this forum are probably not the people to look to for help with this kind of thing.
