It's not that important question, but I just wonder if anyone is interested of speedrunning this game since the community on Speedrun.com is yet very small.
It would be nice to see the number of runners to increase a little bit. There's also a lot of episodes witch means many categories...
What do you people think? And I'm not bragging cause I'm pretty sure the majority of this community can play this game a lot better than me so a Speedrun wouldn't be any match I guess.
However, people run it if they want, but this is the SMBX forum so that's why I'm asking here.

I'd like to speedrun The Invasion 2 because I know that episode very well. Can you use warps in speedruns?

Am I interested to speed run a level of my choice in SMBX?!? Maybe, depends on the difficulty of the level!

I don't like speedrunning full episodes but I do like speedrunning levels. The level featured in the video below was actually pretty popular for speedrunning for a while.

I was mostly thinking about full episodes, cause I haven't seen anything about IL runs on Speedrun.com so far when speaking about SMBX...

Barely any episode is designed for 100% speedruns. Yes, you can theoretically speedrun everything in existence, but some episodes are just veeeeery long and highly demanding in terms of platforming / survival skills, so a lack of these (causing many deaths) can be more grave than a lack of speedrunning-specific skills.

Sanct, do a run of whatever episode you want, then I could add the category since I'm a mod for the game. But unofficial episodes will be set as a misc category.

what do you consider an "official" episode (since, if you want to be strict, there's only TI2, Princess Cliche and NGCA)

Cedur,I don't know either, I guess I'll have to ask on the forum about that. However, official or not, the episode will be added but a video of the run is still needed before adding.

Okay, so I've got answers and it turns out like that the official are all of the episodes that are included in SMBX 2.0 or any other version.

Another Princess Cliche isn't included in any of those though? This categorization makes no sense

Sanct, you're right, but I'm only a regular mod and it wasn't me who categorized. I can't handle this so you should probably go ask the supermods yourself on speedrun.com to get a clear answer.

Also, I would mostly recommend either The Great Empire 1, The Invasion 2 or The Princess Cliche. Those are short.

Instead of speedrunning episodes, maybe speedrunning levels is better especially the levels that won or maybe top 3 levels in the previous contests.

Currently I'm speedrunning The Invasion 2 in my spare time. Despite having the worst first level ever to speedrun, the rest of the game is quite satisfying.
