If you weren't sure about Nintendo, here's your proof.

Thanks to Wind for linking me to this.

I'd never seen this project before, but it's called Pokémon Evoas. According to that post, the project leader received a cell phone call from Nintendo telling him to take his game down because it threatens Nintendo's IP. This is exactly what happened to Redigit.

But the real reason why I posted this was because this guy has confirmed that he received the call from Miller Nash (check the comment section). This is the same law firm Redigit received the call from back in 2011. So, if you were still doubting Redigit, there is your proof.

That's actually quite interesting, and a shame too for Pokemon Evoas. It's also kinda sad you feel the need to post this, seeing as the takedown of SMBX is nearly four years old, and I thought people would have got over it by now. Oh well, you learn something new every day.

This happened to what I believe was a similar Pokemon game online called Pokemon Battle Crater years ago. The main guy running it stopped after a time, and someone else took over only to be shut down by Nintendo after going kinda crazy with the ad revenue and purchasing of Pokemon to use in-game.

It seems to be up and running right now as Pokemon Battle Arena and is funded strictly by donations from what I can tell.

(you guys can stop censoring words, we're all big kids here and can handle it)

I only side with Nintendo here if what they're taking down is something that's making money. Redigit making money off of SMBX, for example, is a case of someone making money off of something that simply isn't theirs (graphics/ideas/etc.). But I wouldn't deal with it like Nintendo did, I would just remove whatever aspect is making money and let them go on their way.

Yep, even I have to agree - this is definitely a repeat of Redigit's case. Yet strangely, no-one in the thread on Reddit actually mentioned Redigit nor SMBX despite them being exact duplicates of each other and having the same causes.

But contrary to popular belief it wasn't Nintendo that caused Redigit to stop working on SMBX - it was Nintendo that caused Redigit to take down SMBX. Think about it - it was actually a coincidence that Redigit lost interest in SMBX and stopped working on it when Nintendo came to tell him to remove it from his site. He was working on Terraria when this occurred.

I figured Redigit was telling the truth the entire time. SMBX and Pokemon Evoas haven't been the first things shut down by Nintendo, that's for sure. There have been a widespan of things. From Mario, to Zelda, to Pokemon, Nintendo just doesn't want anything that can damage their reputation, copyright or not. Hell, I'm quite surprised they haven't shut SMBX down entirely despite its progress being forever halted.

I agree with Snifitguy. Another thing Nintendo should take down is Flappy Bird. They tried, but it is now back on the app store. They should just conciter making anything related to that game Illegal.

Nintendo didn't even ask them to take it down. And there are a billion Flappy Bird clones now, so.

it got taken down because the creator didnt want people got addicted too much from his game, and now hes planning to re-release it with a warning "please take a break".

and nintendo taken down smbx because redigit was making money from the advertisment on his old website
