Dark effect in LunaLua

Hello. If you didn't know, I'm quite new to SMBX. That means I'm very bad at coding in LunaLua. Not knowing what to do, how do I create an effect like presented in this YouTube video?

This appears to be 1.4.4's TeaScript, but I do not know the code for LunaLua. It is possible though. also:

It's a bit complicated to do in beta 3, but we're hoping to include a flexible system in beta 4 that will do what you need.
