Conspiracy theories are both made and believed by rational people, and you can easily google "why are conspiracy theories believed" and find the psychological reasons.

Meh, if one is looking at MarioWiki and then take a look on Mr. L's info, it was Luigi technically, whose "brainwashed" (or hypnotized).
