I see some topics in Off-Topic forum and I think this post is perfect for complete the list:
I have a dilemma...
What was before? The egg or the chicken?
I think the egg. And you?

The egg. Eggs existed long before chickens did.

Neil Degrasse Tyson, an actual scientist wrote:Which came first: the chicken or the egg? The egg – laid by a bird that was not a chicken.
That's your answer. Basically a bird that wasn't quite a chicken laid the egg which was a chicken.

Of course, but if instead of a simple egg, a chicken egg, what happened? The chicken egg made the chicken or the first chicken made the first chicken egg. That's what I mean.

I'm curious to what a creationist would answer.

Doesn't this question usually refer it as "the chicken or the egg" (such as "What came first? The chicken or the egg") rather than the other way round ?

Sorry, I'm spanish and here we say like that. "the egg or the chicken" ["El huevo o la gallina"]
If you refer to the "What was before" Is the same answer. "What was before?" ["¿Qué fue antes?"]
Strange changes between languages.

So that means in Spanish the egg comes first, and in English the chicken comes first. : )

Cue religious argument: I'm curious to see why you made this remark. Is it because you might be assuming an athiest would automatically have a more logical answer before even hearing what a "creationist" has to say?

Based on your question, the egg is before the chicken. Based on the dictionary, the chicken is before the egg.

Eggs aren't exclusive to chickens, and have been linked to animals that predate chickens by millions of years.
