The red crosses mark deprecated NPCs. They won't be removed from the game for compatibility, but we are adding strong insentive not to use them. All of those NPCs have newer replacements with better functionality which you can use instead, but older 1.3 levels will still work even though they use the deprecated NPCs.
I don't understand. Could you give an example of an NPC that will be affected in this way, and why we shouldn't use the old version of it?

All of the NPCs shown in that screenshot with an "X". It's mostly fixing incorrect AI iirc and then the midpoint fixes some issues and also allows for multiple checkpoints in a level without programming it with LunaLua

New checkpoints have multi-midpoint support and are incompatible with old checkpoints.
New blurps use their SMW AI and the old ones have been pushed aside to keep consistency going forward.
New thwomps can go both up and down depending on their direction and have extended configuration options, through which you can make them smash blocks or constantly smash back and forth.

There's a whole section of Metroid graphics in the Community GFX Pack and you can always download tilesets from Spriters Resource and rip them to SMBX tilesets

Another suggestion , a container for ice block so we can have different variations of freezed enemy's(borrowed from 38A) and the smw chute container that makes NPC have the little parachute from smw(borrowed from 38A)
Also a special liquid that detects if a player or NPC collides with it and activates an event or script and another special liquid that harms NPCs that collide with it and also can be set in how much frames will the NPC lose an amount of health(borrowed yet again from 38A)

That's in Beta 3. The Ice Block. It looks like a blue SMW turn block.
Eri7 wrote:smw chute container that makes NPC have the little parachute from smw(borrowed from 38A)
Doable. I kinda wanted this for a while, heh. A bit weird collision-wise, though, and needs PGE plugins for setting the contents, hmm...
Eri7 wrote:Also a special liquid that detects if a player or NPC collides with it and activates an event or script
Once we got PGE plugins we should be able to make trigger colliders.
Eri7 wrote:harms NPCs that collide with it and also can be set in how much frames will the NPC lose an amount of health(borrowed yet again from 38A)
Given that most NPCs don't have health and others check their health in different ways... wait what's the point of that health losing part?
Regardless, if we have trigger zones we can add a stock script so that whatever enters the zone takes damage.

Might be interesting, but tough for basegame due to unique level-to-level LunaLua

Actually pretty simple already, have a door on a "P door" layer that shows on the "P switch start" event, and hides on the "P switch end" event. No LunaLua required.

Being able to select the new characters (wario, snake, rosalina) from the launcher & title screen, and also being able to block them via world editor.
