It is an official diagnosis of being autistic because it IS on the autistic spectrum. This was already said.

Panda, I'm not saying with absolute certainty that I'm right, but I'm asking for a little more than a quote from a post that I already read, which contains no evidence. I genuinely thought "Asperger Syndrome" was removed from the DSM and everything I've looked at so far confirms this.

Intellectual-Panda wrote:I think what Danny means to say is that there's a difference between eating a bunch of food at once and actually struggling with a condition that ruins people's lives.
There's also a difference between an internet stranger who doesn't even know the kid, and a real-life professional who has actually been in the same room as them. Unless I'm wrong about no one here being the latter, I don't see how it's our place to approve or dismiss a diagnosis unless the symptoms are blatantly incongruous. But anyone can look up symptoms on the internet and claim they have those symptoms... when that's the case, do we believe everyone, or no one?

But that's taking this even further than it's gone, because MarioRPGExpert93 has yet to be forthcoming with any symptoms that weren't even asked for before they were outright dismissed.

I understand where this is all coming from. I understand for example that a lot of people who claim to have OCD are like "Oh, I just do things like alphabetize my DVDs" and we know that isn't OCD and I understand that's annoying. Listening and avoiding jumping too early to those conclusions is still part of having a better attitude.
Part of the reason that MarioRPGExpert is not very believable is that he has expressed troll-like or just not very serious behavior both on the forum and on the Discord server consistently. There's a little more to it than just blindly dismissing people who claim to have disorders or various other mental disabilities, MarioRPGExpert has a record of going around spewing a lot of nonsense, and I'd imagine if you had to sit and endure that often, you would have absolutely no patience with him.

Asperger's Syndrome now falls under the umbrella term Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in the DSM-5 and is still in the ICD-10. It's also worth noting that the DSM and ICD both have different criteria for their diagnoses.

It was the first result when I Googled it.

Or you could even just look quickly through his comment history, same difference.

Mild depression/(unofficially documented)Autism, here.

I have to take 20mg prozac once a day for my depression, its not bad but it ban be bad if I don't take my meds. Un-medicated, my brain comes close to cognitively shutting down. I can function normally but I just cant think to do perform anything too complicated like problem solving and stuff. The Autism has not been officially documented by a doctor due to financial issues. The type on the spectrum I am exhibiting symptoms of is call Asperger's, it prevents me from communicating with others in a social setting correctly. I don't have many friends and it has even effected my ability to find gainful employment. If I can get a doctor that specializes in Autism to examine me I could get help for it but most insurance doesn't cover it and without insurance covering it, it's 1.5k dollars just to be evaluated for it. My family members and friends brought it to my attention that I have that issue. :(

True; in my life, many doctors confirmed to me that asperger wasn't autisme when I asked the question.

Your source says it disappeared from the DSM-V which is what I was referencing. "Falls under"? I said "grandfathered". I say this only to make a comparison between both of the metaphors being used here, and not to be condescending about pointing something out that I already said. It would be pretty rude of me to assume you didn't read something you were directly replying to.

Still, I'm glad you mentioned the ICD-10 because I found out about it not in either of the links you sourced, and not in any of my own searches, but after searching it after you mentioned it. So thank you for that.

I don't see how either of us is really forced to sit and endure any of this and I think I have more patience than you must imagine that I have, either way yes, I did look at some of his posts on the forum last night to see for myself.
He ... seems to me like a kid who is acting like a kid. Not the first person to know a lot about mental illness, sure, but that seems to me more like an opportunity to teach them if you think they'll listen, and ignore them if you don't.

Do you have disorders or mental illnesses?

I’m autistic, I have dysgraphia, and ADD or ADHD without the H part

Also mods if this is offending you or is against the rules in any way please lock this topic

Bumping the topic to mention that today I found out that I have asperger, although it didn't really come as a surprise to me. In general I have low social skills. People excluded and bullied me for being different from the average, but I found myself having friendships with other people that are different, and that went through similar things. Nowadays I no longer get bullied by others, although I still lack social skills. I rarely make friends, and I only have 3 IRL friends, and one of them is often busy. However, they are great friends, and now I am happy, even with all of the problems I went through related to exclusion, and bullying.

always light at the end of the tunnel I guess?

My mental struggle is very little nowadays but I suffered a lot from it in my grade 5 and 6 years, in grade 5 I actually got to the point of quitting school and becoming very depressed. Never thought I would recover from it but I did and my Autism, ADD, and dysgraphia didn't really bother me again.

Sometimes I'll forget to do things even if I constantly remind myself to do them, and even if they're simple things: like flushing the toilet or turning a light off.

OMG Me too
things like: stop imitating my friend (now that friend loathes me (always did))
don't talk about x (accidentally talks about x)

Yeah I forget a lot of things then when I remember I had to do something I do the things I did before and I remember it in the end.
