Smbx Version 1.4.4 doesnt work

SMBX 1.4.4 DOESNT WORK
Earlier I found I did not have the latest Smbx version, so i looked for the latest which I thought is 1.4.4, so I downloaded it and I was happy to see the 1 up mushroom, when I clicked to open it, it said this:
The producure * could not be located in the DLL d3dx9_39.dll.
What does this mean? Does it mean I can never play smbx? Is there a game version without the message? I am really stuck with this, Ive been trying to download it but the same message,

1.4.4 isn't the latest SMBX version, it's a completely different game and isn't associated with the offical SMBX. I suggest trying the 2.0 open beta instead.

Try 2.0, because that is the latest version (and 1.4 is not actually SMBX) if you are looking for the latest version.
