A small project that sprung to mind when thinking about SMB1, with the blue Goomba in the underground areas. This still needs polishing and is early in development. The npcs work fine however.
THE GOOMBA NPC COLLECTION!
So far it only contains four npcs, which is: The double Goomba, Jumping Goomba, spiked Goomba and the fast Goomba.
Jumping Goomba:
Spiked Goomba:
Double Goomba and fast Goomba:

all three of them have 1x1 pixels and the second one's animation and mask are broken.

The mask works fine of my end. Did you download it correctly?
Also this is a rough draft to be added upon

Well, well, well. What have we got here?
In my opinion they look pretty nice, especially the first one, it's wonderful.
The third one could be called just "siamese goombas", because it (or they) sounds to be stuck. Anyway a great job.
I've just downloaded the pack, and I notice that effect-84 looks to have 1x1 pixels. Maybe I could err.
I expect a koopa npcs pack too!

I don't like the first 2 but the last 2 are pretty good.

Why do the first 2 look so squished?
The last 2 looks pretty cool though, not gonna lie

the first two seem ok, but the stacked goombas... now THAT is an amazing custom NPC idea, especially for SMBX! (now if we only had a stacking ability in the editor, then we could really make those giant goomba towers. but still, this is really cool!)

The first goombas are squished because I had to fit them into the hitboxes. I dont know how to expand it

Effect 84 will be changed and is just a goomba expanded down. The entire pack will be redone and I just wanted to see if people liked the idea

Also, you could have recolored effect-2 and used that instead of resizing the Goomba graphic.
Other than that and what people have said above, these are pretty good, and you definitely have potential. Don't worry, I did 1x1 pixels as well, but it's pretty easy to improve.

I improved everything people said above.
Will post screenshots and gifs.
Also added new Goomba.

I just looked at Double Goomba and it looked weird. Like, when the goomba get hit by the fireball, both of them dies. You can actually make it like Pokey so the goomba will stack whatever the amount of goomba stack they want. You can either reskin a shy guy to a goomba but disable to pickup and stand on top ability or make the goomba having "npcblock" command set as 1. Now only NPCs can stand on top of it. But that's my opinion. You don't have to agree with it.
EDIT: Actually, it's more than a new goomba concept. A Stacked Goomba of course.
