It may seem like a silly question, but what's the latest version of SMBX?

Depending how you count it, 2.0 beta 3.

If you're talking about SMBX-38A, then it's 1.4.4

If you're talking about the legacy editor, then it's 1.3.0.1

The real last version is 1.3.

There is a 1.3.0.1 to add Lunadll.
After we have two "last version" :
- Smbx 2.0 beta 3, a hack of smbx 1.3.0.1.
- Smbx 1.4.4, a remake of smbx.

Depends what you mean by "real".

SMBX 1.3 is the last version made by Redigit.
SMBX2 beta 3 expands 1.3, but with a different development team. This one is generally considered semi-official.
SMBX 38A is an entirely different engine, rebuilt from scratch, to produce something similar to SMBX, with some extra stuff added in.

1.3.0.1 changes a few graphics, makes a few things refer to this site instead of supermariobrothers.org, and changes the splash screen. 1.3.0.2 is the name for what you get when you install LunaLua on top of 1.3 or 1.3.0.1.

The latest version is actually 1.4.4, if you look at which version was released to the public last.
However one thing to note is that 2.0 and 1.4 are very different.
2.0 is a hack of 1.3, while 1.4 is build from scratch.

1.4 is a separate game altogether so 2.0 is the latest, and you can't upgrade to 1.4 from 2.0 or vice versa.
