Hey, remember this? Level Contest Japan was a contest run by iguzamini a few months back, with a few twists on the usual contest formula - each participant could submit up to three levels, and in any of the available SMBX versions or monstrosities that looked like versions (1.3, 2.0, 38A). It was advertised on both the SMBX forums and Talkhaus, so in the end quite a large variety of participants submitted, and the international nature of the contest is clear, with submissions from everywhere from the US to Japan to Indonesia. The results were in a month or two back, and finally all the levels have been compiled into one big episode!
Unlike normal contest episodes, this one is organized into a world map (for the 1.3/2.0 levels) and is super open-ended, and there is no clear end or finale. Just run around and play whatever level you want! Unfortunately, since 38A is hot garbage and 2.0 tries to load its level .wlds first, and 38A's encryption system is absolute garbage, we had to place the 38A levels in a seperate folder in the episode folder. Drag the folder into a 1.4.4 copy to play those. Sorry about this. There's 67 exits and 57 stars in total to get over all levels.
That's basically it! Just enjoy the levels and the super cool worldmap that Enjl and I made (but mostly enjl lol). We're not gonna show screenshots of the worldmap here cuz it's full of surprises, see for yourselves >:3

You just made me play it. So now I will have to try this later.
It actually only really breaks other levels, and not in a particularly interesting way. It's already fixed for the next release, once Enjl and Pyro accumulate enough bugfixes to justify another version. So far there are just two from Pause and I think one or two from elsewhere.
This is really how a proper SMBX contest episode should be like, no arbitrary plot and the ability to play all the levels at any point in time! Can't wait to see all the awesome levels this episode has!
So, i only just started playing this and decided to try recording this. The third level i play in this was already a bit though since it involved swimming and dodging potentially insta death blocks?
I will do more of them, and also will plan to do levels like Pause or the 38A ones but in a Special Part
I'm really enjoying this so far, although I have encountered some bugs (Which may just be the result of my shitty computer but who knows). First, pausing in the escape part of Gimmick Purgatory makes it so you can't unpause, and the music for the ninji escape sequence in Ninji's Enviromental Forest doesn't work for me.
I also feel the exact same way about iguzamini's scores as you do.

For me, the game crashed in (minimal)(maximal) and the remake of SMB3 1-1 was enjoyed except til I never found he exit (but that is on me).
