my hardest game i ever played is i wanna be the guy it so hard one hit you dead one time when i beat a boss a man pop up and then he killed me and then i had to fight the boss again

I feel like games like i wanna be the guy shouldn't fit in this category, as they're intended to be impossible, and they aren't exactly "official".

That said, Ninja gaiden, any of the three, on the nes, they're so fucking difficult, since there's the knocback factor and well, the stages are built arround so you get fucked by that, but i'm a masochist when it comes to videogames, so i love really difficult games (beatable games)

Probably Lost Levels or something. I know there are much harder games from that era, but I'm not all hardcore like that, perhaps unfortunately. I've also played I Wanna Be The Guy, but like Nien said, it's hard to count that.

Cloudberry Kingdom with max settings, my friend and I were raging so hard at that game hahaha

See that was the thing that bugged me about that game, the knock back factor. Grr... I'm not good at hard games, but I will waste a good portion of time on them!

The hardest game I ever played were Super Mario Bros: The Lost Levels.
Also I played some unofficial games: a hack of super mario bros called "Bowser's jumping challenge", The world's hardest game(never finished) and the impossible quiz(never finished).
I played a lot of hard games, but they are the most hard.

Lost Levels. Farthest I ever got was World 4. Also, Metroid on the Nes.

Pixel Dungeon. On top of being somewhat luck-based (go to hell, RNG) and utterly unforgiving, it has permadeath. I usually can't even get to the first boss. It probably sounds unfair, and it kind of is, but I still come back to it because of how fun it is.
