Hello everyone and welcome to my new first project, The Second Adventure of The Great Star Hunting ! :D

This project was dreamed by me since my very first beginning in 2012 on SMBX. Indeed, it is the indisputable sequel to the first of the name, Super Mario Star Expedition realized in 2011 then released in early 2012 by Chad, a character well known English forums (this forum). And when I watched the whole episode, I was completely charmed by the level design, the graphic customs, the custom music and many others especially in his time when SMBX existed since only 2009.

In spite of this, it is only now, in 2017, that I really thought about this game and I decided to make a follow-up that I hope will be up to it (although I think I will not exceed the level of Chad)
This project works with hubs and not with a world map, as the first of the name.

For those who do not know the first game: Super Mario Star Expedition, here is a brief scenario:

The story begins in a large palace (which is the main hub) where Mario takes place of the different worlds that exist, his main quest is to collect, through the different environments that he will traverse, the 180 stars of the game to advance the furthest in history. This game has 8 main worlds each of 6 levels and in each level there are 3 stars to find. There is also a secret world where you have to gather the 152 stars of the 8 worlds to get there, this one is made up of 8 levels representing each one a world of 8 of the game then a final level with a final boss who, one once defeated, will make appear the 180th star. This game includes a great diversity of graphic customs, and custom musics.

Here is the scenario of my real project, The Second Adventure of The Great Star Hunting (Super Mario Star Expedition 2):

Mario begins the game by appearing in a very large palace that seems familiar to him but which is not the same to which he thinks, he quickly discovers that there is an access to the castle of Peach and then goes towards the latter who wishes Talk to him and then tells him that Bowser and his seven sons have come back to avenge the time when previously Mario had collected the 180 stars of the Star Road but this time there are 200 hidden stars! It is then that Peach sincerely asks him once again to save and recover the stars of the Star Road. Mario then leaves for a brand new adventure that incorporates the same principles of the first game: 8 new worlds and a new secret world with new environments to be explored as long as you collect a certain number of stars to enter these worlds and 3 stars to recover by level with a variable number of level in each world. (Small difference in the first game) Warning, this project, unlike Super Mario Star Expedition, will not be composed (or in any case very little) of NPC customs, nevertheless, there will still be graphical customs and custom music.

So to get back to the main topic, this topic is a demo that includes the entire world 1 with his hub, the main hub and the part of Peach Castle (the introduction). I think I can release the final version of my project (with all the completed worlds) in June / July 2017. Here I will put Screenshots of the demo:

(Do not take too much account of the choice of Screenshots, it's just to give you an idea of the levels but they are not based on the integral system of levels)

You will excuse me in advance for the quality of the Screenshots, I do not know why the rendering is blurry, maybe I have not set up my Screens ...
(Just for 3 Screens of the 8 Screenshots).

On the other hand, I forgot to tell you a very important info about the project, it is absolutely necessary to play the game in SMBX 1.4.4, I insist on it because there are elements in my project that appeared from SMBX 1.4.4 by 38A.

Finally, here is the download link:

So, the games are done, it's my very first project, I hope that the demo will work well and that of course the game will please you. ;)
I also hope to receive opinions, tricks, notes from you, it would give me great pleasure. :)

Thank you for your understanding, (and sorry for my eventually bad english because I'm french and I learn English since 2009).

NewSaturn.

Did Chad give you permission to actually make a sequel? If so I can't wait! :|

Man, I already thought this was a finished thing. I loved the original episode so much, and I don't think permission is required for a sequel if the work itself is original.

I really like your level design, it's pretty good so far. The atmosphere in some levels are also great.

Judging by the screenshots, this might be really good.

the aesthetics are nice, but the level design is really bland. there’s just not much going on in those screens.

Thank you very much for all those replies. :D
For the Screenshots, I know, there are not very exceptional but it's just a little idea of the level.
The levels are more nice good to see when you play the episode, don't worry about that. ;)
(I don't know really how to make good screenshots because it's my first project).

I'm not entirely sure it's allowed to make and take credit for a sequel to someone else's episode without their permission.

I demanded to Chad if I can make and post a sequel of his own original game with a private message and he told me what is'nt a good point that I named my project by "Super Mario Star Expedition 2" and "Star Expedition" isn't my project so I don't know if I must renamed my project by an another name other than Star Expedition but I have no idea of a other name for my project ...

You should rename your project if Chad doesn't approve of it. This can stay unlocked since it's a unique project, but make sure to change the name before releasing it.

Also moved to Projects; the Episodes forum is reserved for fully completed episodes.

I rename my project onto "The Legend of the 200 Hidden Stars". I think it's better for the author rights of Chad. But this game still the sequel of Super Mario Star Expedition, just renamed.

Looks promising... I hope the full game turns out good.

But yeah, like rudeguy said, there isn't too much going on.

I don't see why we should view this as a sequel to a project that is not yours.

I know, the screens looks empty because I don't know make great screens, they just give you a little idea of the levels and this is just the first world and the next worlds will be more completed.

The name has been changed, did you even read Pseudo's post? I guess it is a problem that it is still in brackets and still being viewed as the sequel.
