SMB X Port To a 3DS?

Postby Weegee Number one » Mon Apr 17, 2017 4:20 am

Hello I am Weegee Nad i just Wondering if there will be a port to portable consoles
Like the 3ds as the 3ds has a Touch screen good enough for Level Editor!
and the Touch screen can be used as a NSMB DS Map and a Item box
to store items!

But if the old 3ds cannot handle it,
why no the New 3ds?!

because the only way'd be homebrew because there's no way this'd be official.

And homebrew is not an option either because it's just not worth the effort. Someone'd have to recreate everything on a 3DS. Power is not the problem, so 3DS/new 3DS is no difference.

If you do want a level editor on your 3DS, Super Mario Maker for Nintendo 3DS should do the job.

Official Mario games, hacks can be on console, handhelds, PC, etc, but SMBX will be always on PC.

3DS homebrew doesn't just make a windows program run on a 3DS, it's got to be specifically coded for 3DS (or ported from prexisting source code, which we don't have for SMBX). Flappy bird isn't exactly the most complex game in the world - I'd imagine this guy was playing a from-scratch port someone made in a few days (if even that). By contrast, SMBX is a huge game with a lot of content - by the time a working 100% port was made the 3DS would be ancient, and we would have tablets that could easily run SMBX (I think we actually have that today).

Not saying it wouldn't be awesome if we could do that, just that it's probably not going to happen.

I dont think thats Possible, SMBX just doesn't have the Code to be imported into the 3DS, and even If It did, The Only way to get It on a 3DS Is to Homebrew It, and thats not very Official, plus, I dont think Nintendo would be very happy about that, sooo I am going to end this with SMBX will ONLY and ONLY EVER be on PC, Never anything else

When a PC game uses a lot of buttons (like SMBX - jump, run, drop item,...) it's bad to create a port on a system without that buttons. Yeah, 3DS has that buttons, but the resolution would suck (maybe)...

Well actually I may have found a way to do it. I haven't tested it, and it's probably really complicated, but you could probably do it. First you would get Linux on your 3ds (which would require a9lh, which requires a downgrade of your firmware, which requires the homebrew launcher, which requires a copy of Cubic Ninja or already old firmware). Then you could possibly get PlayOnLinux, which can be used to install SMBX 1.3.0.2, and presumably SMBX2 if a script would made. I somewhat doubt this would be playable, even if it did work.
