Rom file of SMBX?

Postby oiram sorb » Sun Mar 05, 2017 10:08 am

Is there any existing file of smbx that is a ROM file (Playable in emulator)?
I'd like to play this hack on my raspberry pi with a friend, but the .exe format is not usable on there...
is there any .sfc or .smc files of this hack?

SMBX isn't a rom hack, it runs on it's own engine, which can be downloaded here: http://horikawaotane.com/smbx

Did you even read anything about SMBX before coming here? This isn't a hack, it's a fan game.

Also, I think it's actually illegal to distribute ROM files, as I've seen a few times on the SMW central hack removal log where people are given a 72 hour ban for submitting a ROM file.

SMBX is a fan based game, with a bunch of playable levels and episodes. You should look for a few of them to play.

Let me tell you the differences between a ROM file and an official fan game.
  • A fan game is something that's not played on a freaking emulator! 8-)

Rom files are singular files that can be played on a corresponding emulator while SMBX utulizes level and world files to detect levels and episodes with!

I don't think we're accomplishing anything here, he hasn't been on the forum ever since march 6.

Doesn't mean we can't discuss it further in relation to the topic... it also might be useful for other members aswell who are wondering/curious about it and not only for the author who made the topic. ;P

SMBX is not a ROM in no way, shape, or form, and I don't think it's possible to convert it into a ROM to be playable on an emulator, so everyone can stop saying the same thing now... But this thread can stay open to further discuss the idea I guess?

Also, welcome to the forums.

I was just wondering about Raspberry Pi, and the possibility of having one dedicated to SMBX and episodes. I guess that's still a no go eh?

You can have a Raspberry Pi run Windows and in turn, run SMBX, but that will require a Windows Raspberry Pi core and additional requirements, so yeah, a no go, if you are using your Raspberry Pi to run roms instead of a OS like Windows.

Your best bet is to buy a decent PC that runs Windows, any good decent PC with Windows can run SMBX.
