My Gamepads are no longer being recognized in SMBX 1.3.0.1 after a playing hiatus.

Used to sometimes have this problem. Sometimes I can fix with restart, but haven't played in a while and can't fix it this time, in Win 10. All these pads worked before.

I used to have issues getting gamepads recognized initially, including on other windows versions. After they'd work, I'd avoid changing things around too much. I removed two of 4 usb pads months ago. Not sure if that messed things up?

I guess you may have tampered with the settings during the hiatus? Also you should get 2.0 as that is better and it may help you.

Have you tried using something called "JoyToKey.exe"?

Alright, let's actually answer this question without someone trying to recommend SMBX 2.0 for irrelevant reasons to this.

#1: What kind of gamepads are they? Keep in mind SMBX uses DirectInput and you'll want to make sure you've got something that supports that. In case you're using PS4 controllers or Xinput-only controllers. Then you slap some Joy2Key or something like that on.
#2: You might have deleted the wrong drivers or uninstalled the wrong thing while removing those gamepads. Make sure your drivers are all working properly and the like.
#3: Is it just SMBX that has this problem? Or is it other games, too? This eliminates SMBX as an isolated case if so.

I'm leaning towards faulty gamepad(s) or your drivers got deleted on accident.

I fixed the problem by selecting "Advanced" under gamepad settings in Win 10, and it says Select the device you want to work with Older programs. Then they all showed up after setting only one of them.

I saw people saying this but I never realized SMBX only supported DirectInput. Especially since most of my gamepads have worked on Win 10 up to this point, and Win 8* and Win XP, with a few exceptions. Maybe because I unplugged some of them and Win 10 reset itself. I may have set the advanced options before. I forget.

I haven't tried JoyToKey yet. I hear it's shareware and phones home or something. I was looking for something Open Source that didn't phone home, or just hoping to fix the problem. Maybe I'll try it later.
