You know Firecore, the CRAPPY Genesis emulator used in all of AtGames' Sega Genesis/MegaDrive clones?

I wept on the inside when I learned, through YouTube, just how much AtGames MURDERED Sonic 3's mini-boss theme. MURDERED!!!



SEGA, TAKE AWAY ATGAMES' LICENSE TO MAKE GENICLONES ALREADY, GODDAMMIT!!!! :evil:
2008. Sega licensed AtGames to make Sega Genesis clones. This proved to be a big mistake that has been left unresolved from then until the present, and quite possibly the future. AtGames never improved their Firecore emulator, nor did Sega seem to get the obvious hint that they should rip that license right out of AtGames' hands and burn it in a fireplace in place of a log or something.
2014. That fateful year I was stupid enough to buy an AtGames GeniCRAP. (And even worse, I was dumb enough to tolerate such piss-poor emulation!)
2017? Well...I'VE HAD ENOUGH OF THIS FREAKIN' BULLCRAP!!
Sigh... This is EXACTLY why I bought an original Model 1 Sega Genesis with my Christmas money. AtGames...you'd better go out of business this year. You screwed up with Atari 2600 clones (sorta), ColecoVision clones, Intellivision clones, and worst of all...Neo Geo AVS and Sega Genesis/MegaDrive clones. Especially the Sega ones. I have lost any faith I ever had in you making good stuff entirely...if any.

And by the way, everyone...yes, I do know millions like me have ranted about AtGames' apparent quantity over quality policy before. But they're just that bad, that unfeeling, that careless, that no amount of ranting on and on about them is enough. Sorry.

That's probably one of the reasons that Sega is failling misserably at their reputation and games.

I have atgames's genesis system and it works pretty well, I don't see a big problem with it.

Wind, it may work, but the real problem lies in the emulator AtGames stuck on it. IT MURDERS THE AUDIO QUALITY!! Lemme give you a rundown on the fatal flaws with it:
-The FM synthesis, PSG, and PCM chips are all tuned completely wrong. FM synth got tuned down 4 semitones (6 in even earlier models), which is already wrong, but get this...the other two chips are tuned even worse! And on top of that, some games have audio that will murder the ears on Firecore!
-PSG got tuned down 7 semitones in total (freakin' 9 in earlier models), which even further ruins music and any Genesis sound altogether if the FM instruments didn't already kill it.
-Then the PCM chip, used for samples when PSG isn't, is apparently variable in tuning. In Comix Zone or The Ooze, samples are tuned down, and even more, the games run way too darn fast!
So answer me this: How can you call that tolerable? No game is safe from murdered audio on there if it even works.
Oh yeah, the other flaws:
-Sound is output in Mono, with no way to get Stereo sound. Wrong.
-It isn't compatible with Virtua Racing, either Street Fighter II Genesis game, or Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, nor does it support any add-ons (Power Base Converter, Sega CD/Mega-CD, Sega 32X).
-When playing a game included with the system, colors are slightly more muted than when using a cartridge.
-Doesn't accept Sonic 3 & Knuckles, nor any version of the EverDrive.
-While it's region-free, that's pointless due to shoddy emulation. I sure wouldn't want to play Zero Wing, Gleylancer, Monster World IV, or Super Fantasy Zone on it.
-The pack-in infrared controllers suck. Can't button-mash.
-Sometimes, pack-in games won't work correctly with original controllers!
-While cartidges may be accepted by the clone, they might not work correctly. For instance, I have observed that on the clone, NFL '95 refuses to let me play seasons. Also, when simulating games, no scores are shown, just the words "Jeff George 0 yards passing" for every game.
-Sometimes instruments will start playing too early on cartridges! (Galaxy Force II is a prime example of this. Songs where this happens are "Beyond the Galaxy" and "Alone Fighter."
-Oh yeah, the clone 99% does not support battery-saving games! Literally the only game that will save on mine is NBA Jam. Other than that...forget it. It won't work.
-My point is: there are waaay more problems than you realize. Just thought I'd try to point them out semi-calmly.

Yeah, one of the other ways they should be getting back into the swing of things should be to take that license away from AtGames and rip it to shreds. Other than that, at least they are taking things a bit more seriously nowadays, which is more than can be said about Capcom or Konami. (I have high hopes for Sonic Mania!)

I looked up some Firecore footage out of sheer curiosity. The audio is so distorted and bitcrushed it hurts.
