I am 14 as of December seventh. I can now legally get a job. I have decided my first investment is going to be in building a Raspberry Pi 3 for use with NES and SNES games. All the items cost a little under 63 dollars , I overestimated the price so I'm sure to have enough.
The items I'm planning to purchase are

A Raspberry Pi 3 - $40 (Link)

A starter pack that comes with a case and a controller - $13 (Link
It's way cheaper then buying the case and controller separate. Plus it also has power adapter and a n hdmi cable.

A 32GB micro SD card - $10
I've scrapped the 128 card in favor of a much cheaper 32 GB card.

Why am i posting this here? Because its my first real investment and i wanted to know what you think before i waste a month doing it. This community has matured me quite alot since i first signed up. Thank you all and have a happy new year.

Seems reasonable to me - when I was 14 I wasn't scrutinizing my own purchases nearly this much (and I didn't even have a job until I was 17, haha), so if you're making your own money it seems very reasonable, and this seems like a cool project.

You probably don't need 128GB of space. You'd probably be fine with 32-64

I heard there's a SD card that can hold a total of 1 TB of data. But I recommend getting a 32 GB card to save money

I have switched to the cheaper 32GB card and the price went down $10. I've also found a bundle with the controller and case together for only $13. I need $33 more.



EDIT: I've already ordered it, I just babysat for 4 hours and made $40, that was way too easy. Is it even still consider an investment? Anyways, the starter pack is shipping from China, the motherboard from California, and I got the card from Walmart. How long do you think it'll take?

I am currently testing smbx on the retro pie os with wine.

when I first got my starter pack I got it within Australia's borders so I did not have to pay much for postage.

I am pretty sure Adafruit is in America (since you said Walmart) and they do quite nice starter kits there, in fact, that's one of the places I get most of my raspberry pi addons from.
