Lag problem

So, yesterday I was playing SMBX and it was running perfectly. Today it's just been acting weird. When I went on today I noticed huge lag spikes that lasted about 2-3 seconds, this happened throughout the whole time I was in the game. It hasn't gotten better since. Please help!

What are your PC specs like?

4.00 GB, 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor, Intel(R) Celeron(R) CPU J1800 @ 2.41 GHz.

Usually 4GB is at least enough for SMBX but if you're running other programs in the background it will lag the game since it's not really enough to handle the RAM capacity. If you had a 8GB RAM it can work way better like SMBX and also running with other stuff in the background.
