M35: Host Sign-ups! (Poll up yo)

Postby Julia Pseudo » Tue Dec 20, 2016 7:33 pm

Hey, everyone! In light of the new staff announcement today, it seems like a good time for another Mafia game.

Mafia 35

We're looking for your quality mafia hosting skills and your quality mafia games for our next game!

You've seen Mafia.
You've played Mafia.
Now, it might just be your time to host some Mafia!

Sorry to Syndrilevosse, but he will not be hosting. :(

How do I apply?
All you need to do is post your game suggestion in this topic!
However, you must have participated in at least one mafia game in order to host a game.

After you have posted, your two Game Masters, Spinda and I (there's FallingSnow too but he doesn't show up that often), will edit your post and respond in green at the bottom if we approve.
If we have comments or changes that we recommend, we will edit in red.
Optional suggestions may be in yellow or orange.

Tips to Remember:
Each user may only submit one game, so choose wisely!
Your game should contain around 15-20 players.
Have about 1 mafia member for each 4-5 townies.
Your game doesn't need to be overly complex to be fun and interesting. Sometimes a good combination of roles can produce a better result.
Don't try to go overboard with the custom roles! You don't need to change the entire theme of your game for it to be interesting.

Ready for Mafia?
Think up some ideas!

The year is 1855. The setting, the American West. A team of gangsters, commissioned by a time-traveling oil tycoon from the year 2180 named Big Doyle and led by legendary outlaw Jonny "The Fastest Gun in the West" Peterson, has infiltrated the once-peaceful mining town of Gunshot Gulch, Nevada in order to dig up a plentiful source of oil located below the surface. Oil is exceptionally rare in the late 22nd century and Doyle plans to bring the gallons he would dig up back to his own time, where he will sell it for trillions of euros.
The gangsters' only opposition is the 13 innocent townspeople of Gunshot Gulch who are determined to protect their village. Well, that's not totally right. Thankfully, Doyle was followed back in time by a Time Cop who has taken a vow to prevent the timeline from being altered and to stop the villainous oil tycoon at any cost. Unfortunately, he's already failed the first part, what with making his presence known to villagers in 1855 and all. But that's alright; he can still succeed in the second.
Oh yeah, and there's some prospector who wants all the gold in Gunshot Gulch for himself or something too, no matter who he has to kill. The townspeople will have to deal with all this in...

M32+: Peak Oil, 200 Years Too Soon
Format: Roleflip - 18 Players
This is a roleflip game. Since every player is a unique character, their specific role will be identified when they are killed (by default). However, cardflip colors are still included.

The Gangster Squad
Big Doyle: A greedy oil tycoon from the year 2180. He is the diabolical mastermind behind all of this, and can use cloaking technology to alter his appearance to appear blue if no autopsy is performed on him.
Jonny "The Fastest Gun in the West" Peterson: A legendary outlaw in 1850s Nevada. As long as he's alive, he will be able to kill one player on even-numbered nights, thanks to his incredible quick draw.
Black Bill Redford: Named for his ashen face thanks to his work with explosives, Bill can place a bomb on one player each night that is rigged to explode if that player dies; if so the player will cardflip black with no name revealed. The bombs will decay by the next night.
Mr. Skull: 160 years before he joined the ghost pirate crew, Mr. Skull was a gangster in the Old West. He spies on other players and gives them good bones and calcium, and can visit one player each night to eavesdrop on any host PMs they received.
(All members have contact with each other and conspire to kill one player each night.)
Goal: Eliminate the Prospector and equal or outnumber the townspeople.

The Townspeople
Doc Fesstival: The doctor who performs the autopsy on players every morning and night after someone dies. If he dies, the roleflip mechanic will be retired in favor of regular cardflips, since he won't be able to identify the bodies. He can also choose to retire and disable this ability during the night from Night 2 onwards, but this is a permanent decision.
Time Cop: A mysterious time cop from the future who doesn't play by the rules. He's extensively researched the population of Gunshot Gulch and can inspect one player each night to learn that player's cardflip color.
Sheriff Westin: Gunshot's sheriff, who has been set aside in his inspection capabilities by the Time Cop. He's looking to build up a posse to combat the gangsters himself, and can reveal his role to one player each night.
Crazy Carl Williams: If Jonny Peterson is the fastest gun in the west, Carl Williams is the craziest. He can kill one player each night, but will lose this ability for one night if he kills an innocent.
One Horse: The only horse in this town, he can sit on one player each night to prevent that player from being night killed. Obviously, he can't sit on himself.
Eric the Bartender: Has no ability, but cardflips blue if not identified by Doc Fesstival.
Lester the Kid: Regular townsperson
Timmy Claymore: Regular townsperson.
Frank Strange: Regular townsperson.
Vinny, the general store owner: Regular townsperson.
The Texan Smoker: Regular townsperson.
Barney the Carnie: Regular townsperson.
TNT Tyrone: A legendary former mercenary who previously worked with Jonny "The Fastest Gun in the West" Peterson. He has been retired for years, but will appear guilty if not identified by Doc Fesstival.
Goal: Eliminate the gangsters and prospector.

The Prospector
Ol' Ben, the Prospector: A crazed and greedy prospector who is obsessed with taking Gunshot Gulch and its oil for himself. Each night, he can kill one player. He can also protect himself by hiding in a hole if someone tries to kill him, rendering him immune to night kills. People don't think of him as a bad guy normally, so he cardflips green if not identified by Doc Fesstival (revealing his stolen gold).
Goal: Be the last player standing.
Spinda wrote:Why exactly can Jonny only kill on even nights? Once in the game should be enough of a regulation imo nvm i cant read
Does the Mafia receive the dead player's role if Black Bill Redford's ability gets used? If so it'd be kinda op since it can just be used on the Mafia's target every night.

Looks like a really good game tho!

This was unexpected, haha. I don't think I'll submit a game this time around, I'd rather play. I may change my mind eventually though, so take this with a grain of salt.

Your goal is to Kill The Dark Wizard and their allies and Burn The Witch Kill The Witch/Warlock. Good Luck!
You really like mirrors, you may be a little vain, your the Mirror Wizard! Each night you can give someone a mirror so that if they

Your goal is to Kill The Dark Wizard and their allies and Burn The Witch Kill The Witch/Warlock. Good Luck!
Your a Large, Living Blob of Slimy mass, that has learned to harness white magic, Your the Blue Slime! If one of the specials happens

Your goal is to Kill The Dark Wizard and their allies and Burn The Witch Kill The Witch/Warlock. Good Luck!
Ugh, this is a pretty bad thing, but your The Magic Studier. So basically, you like to study the origins of black and white magic alike,
but doing this makes you look very suspicious, maybe even trying to look innocent, just try not to die or you'll end up confusing your teammates even more.

Your goal is to Kill The Dark Wizard and their allies and Burn The Witch Kill The Witch/Warlock. Good Luck!
Oh no, this is no good, but your the Witchery Student. Your a stundent in witchery, seems okay enough right? Well here's the thing, the
fact that your a student in witchery makes you look like you may be the Witch, Or Warlock if your a guy, trying to look like someone just studying witchery. So you'll really not want to die, or you may make your teammates wonder if you were the Witch, Or Warlock, so be careful.

Your goal is to Kill The Dark Wizard and their allies and Burn The Witch Kill The Witch/Warlock. Good Luck!
Your Sneaky, your suspicious, your not aligned to the good side, but not aligned to the bad side either, so by process of elimination, this means
that your the Witch! Or Warlock if your male. So basically, each night, you can do some voodoo
magic on someone to make it where if they say a word of your choice that's atleast 6 letters long, they will die. You also can't be killed at night either.

If The Dark Wizard and all their allies as well as the specials, this includes the Blue Slime and Dragon Duo, Are dead, then you win. Good Luck!

M35: Division
-Ballot-Box Voting
-Cardflip
-Factions
-Elements of chance used
-Item System
-(If there are more functions you think I am missing here, then please tell me)
-18 players

Castle Mafia-Wins by equaling or outnumbering the Divided castle. The team has 1 collective kill each night, and are in contact with each other
Mafia King-You start the game with a sword. Makes the final decision regarding which actions are undertaken by the team, and would be the one who performs the said actions. If killed, then one of the Mafia Minions will replace him.
Mafia Minion-Is a member of the team
Mafia Minion
Mafia Minion
The team may perform one of the following actions each night:
  • Harass: You harass a player. If this targets a peasant then they become a divided peasant.
  • Kidnap: Can be used once during the game. You try to kidnap a player. If this targets a divided peasant then they become part of the team and will be in contact with you for the rest of the game.
Divided Castle-Wins by lynching off everyone in Castle Mafia and the Barbarians
King- Immune to nightkills for the first 3 nights. Can also perform the following actions
  • Guard: You protect a player, making them immune for nightkills for the night
Guard
Guard-You start the game with a Bow and Arrow. You can kill one person per night or use one of the following abilities:
  • Inspect: You inspect a player, revealing their color to you
  • Guard: You protect a player, making them immune to nightkills for the night
  • Recruit: Once throughout the game, you may recruit someone. If this targets a peasant then they become your partner and will be in contact with you for the game, and give them a bow and arrow.
  • Arrest: Can be used twice per game. You arrest someone for one night and one day and the prisoner can't do anything that night. It will be announced that someone was arrested, but their identity will not be revealed during this announcement. Any lynch votes they make will not count either.
Priest
Priest-You can use one of the following abilities:
Church Service: You teach the targeted player how to live their life. If this targets a divided peasant then they become a peasant

Peasants
Peasant-Just a regular citizen of the castle
Peasant
Peasant
Peasant
Peasant
Peasant
Divided peasant-If the king dies, they become their own team, will be in contact with each other and one of them will get a bow and arrow which can be used to kill.

Divided peasant

Barbarians-Wins the game by Annexing Castle Mafia and Outnumbering the Divided Castle members. Every member is in contact with each other. Starts with a sword and is immune to nightkills until he kidnaps 2 players from the divided castle. If he dies, then one of the Barbarians will become the king. The king undertakes the actions.
Barbarian King-You start the game with a sword. You make the final decisions about what actions are undertaken by the barbarians and you are immune to nightkills. Can use one of the following abilities each night:
  • Harass: You harass a player. If this targets a peasant then they become a divided peasant
Kidnap: Can be used no more than 5 times in the game, if the ability targets a divided peasant then they will become a Barbarian and be in contact for the remainder of the game.
Items:
  • Sword: Can be used to kill a player. As long as the player is not immune, they will die like normal
  • Bow and Arrow: Functions the same way as a sword except it will be announced that a bow and arrow was fired

    Notes:
-Any abilities that have limited uses (kidnap and recruit) will not activate until it is successfully targets the required player type. I.E if Castle Mafia try to use their kidnap ability on the guard, it can be used again until it targets a divided peasant.
-The abilities for Castle Mafia and the Barbarians can only be essentially used by their Kings (or only one ability or kill can be used by the said teams per night).
-The Barbarian King's kidnap abilty's chance of success is 50% (unless it does not target a divided peasant) and can't be used after 5 successful attempts. Not to be confused with Castle Mafia's kidnap, which is a one use.
-In order to 'Annex' Castle Mafia, the Barbarians must outnumber that team.
    Win Conditions: show
Castle Mafia: Equal or outnumber the Divided Castle.
Divided Castle: Kill and lynch off everyone on the other teams
Divided Peasants: If the King dies, outnumber the other teams
Barbarians: Annex Castle Mafia and out number or equal the Divided Castle
    Role PM examples: show
Mafia King wrote:You are the Mafia King. Your Mafia Minions, [insert names here], heavily guard you and will try to make sure that false lynch results are produced in the event that you are voted. You also have barbarians to watch out for, and you on't want to be annexed by them. Also make sure that you kidnap one of the many divided peasants to improve your chances. As the king, it is your job to lead your team to victory and be sure to listen to your minions.
Mafia Minion wrote:You are one of the Mafia Minions. Your fellow minions are [insert names here] and you king is [insert name here]. You serve the king and you need to make suggestions as to what he should do. You need to help him in his quest to victory.
King wrote:You are the king of the divided castle. There has been panic as Castle Mafia and the Barbarians want to dominate your area by destroying you. It is important you stay alive otherwise your castle may become divided and your team's chances will dwindle. Thankfully you are heavily guarded, so it will be harder for you to be killed, but you can still be lynched, so be careful.
Guard wrote:You are the Guard. You are allowed to make one execution per night or you can inspect or protect someone. You should also recruit one of the peasants so that they are work with you.
Priest wrote:You are the Priest and it is your job to try and sort out the divided peasants and try to tell them that the castle will win and make them normal again.
Peasant wrote:You are an ordinary peasant. You can't do much and you don't know your king but still in support for him, and you are willing to take part in the lynch votings.
Corrupt Peasant wrote:You are the Corrupt Peasant. Most people think you are a normal peasant but you don't support democracy have always rigged elections and now plan to rig the lynch votings each day, just don't let the guard expose you else you will never be able to rig elections ever again.
Divided Peasant wrote:You are a divided peasant. You are vulnerable and don't support the king and don't think you will win. You and your fellow Divided peasants will come together when the king dies and attempt to take control of the castle castle
Barbarian King wrote:You are the Barbarian King. You have lost a war some time ago and were the only survivor. You want to build a team of barbarians and annex or eliminate Castle Mafia and then dominate over the Divided Castle. Can you do it?
Pseudo wrote:The mafia is way too strong, due to their numbers proportional to the town and the (especially) fact that they get three kills per night at the start of the game with the possibility of a fourth using the "kidnap" ability. In a forum based game like this, the mafia has a pretty good chance of winning with just one kill per night (and perhaps some non-killing special abilities).
What are the chances of the Barbarian King's "kidnap" ability failing or of the Guard's "arrest" ability failing? You can leave these up to chance (although I would recommend just limiting the number of uses or something instead) but you should specify the probability, as you did for the Corrupt Peasant.
Good concept though, if the problems are fixed this can be approved.

    Edit:
The mafia is still way too strong. Three night kills from a single team is way too much, no matter how you slice it. At least one of the mafia members who currently starts the game with a sword should not start the game with a sword (and I might suggest changing to a bow and arrows to nerf them further)

    Edit 2:
    Looks good now.
Spinda wrote:Leaving so much stuff to chance is stupid
Why are like all the useful abilities limited to the Guard? If they die then it's essentially gg for the town lol
The Mafia seems way too strong with potentially 4 kills in the first night alone

What exactly does "hard to kill" mean regarding the king?
How exactly does the Divided Peasant group differ once the king dies?
Why have items that are specific to one role (Bible and Handcuffs) if there isn't any role that can steal items?

    Edit:
You still need to specify a lot about the Divided Peasants. Do they get to know each other once the king dies? Can they kill? ????
You don't need items to justify gameplay elements when the items can't be stolen or given away. It's literally just a more confusing way to write normal abilities and clogs the game.

    Edit Edit:

    1) I made sure that Mafia Members don't actually have the ability to kill. So they now have one kill per night.
    2) I have changed them to limited uses to try and improve things a bit

    1) I have changed most of the chance based things to limited use
    2) I have given the king the ability to also protect, and is imune to nightl=kills early in the game
    3) I have made sure that it is one kill per night by making it so that only the king actually has the ability to kill
    4) I have changed it so this is no longer relevant, and the king has nightkill immunity for the first 3 nights
    5) They basically become a second Mafia team
    6) These items only exist to give certain gameplay elements a reason to exist

Ice Spirit: Can freeze a player making them unable to speak the next day. if they get lynch voted the ice breaks killing the person who voted for them last instead of the person who was lynch voted.
Skeletal Miner: Can chase a person with his pickaxe blocking their role usage every night, can't target the same person twice consecutively. Can also once per game throw the pickaxe killing someone, but that makes him unable to use any powers for the rest of the game.
Banished Townie: Due to experience out in the wilderness, he can't be nightkilled.
Snow Golem: May cover up the fact that the mafia killed someone by covering them in snow once in the game. The death of the player will not be revealed on the next day if the golem does this.

The Town
Wolf Tamer: Can send out a wolf to inspect a player's color, if he targets the same player again he can tell the player his role privately.
Innkeeper: Can warm a player up at his inn protecting them from all ice-based powers.
Field Medic: Can save a player from dying every night.
Hunter: Can kill a player every night, if he kills a person alligned with the town he loses his ability for 1 night and his color changes to red for the same amount of time. In contact with his apprentice.
Hunter's Apprentice: Like a townie but red. In contact with the hunter. If the hunter dies he becomes the hunter, but his color won't change.
Townie: Works with other players to try to lynch the mafia
Townie:
Townie:
Townie:
Townie:
Ghostly Townie: Immune to nightkills.

Third Party
Soul Salesman: Immune to night kills. Can kill someone every night. Everytime he kills someone he gets their souls-
For 1 soul - he can inspect someone's color or roleblock them
For 2 souls - he can use someone else's ability (Role's power usage limits still apply, using hunter's ability won't result in multiple kills)
For 3 souls - he can stop all abilites from happening that night (excluding his night-kill)

He can nightkill aswell as using one of his soul abilities. (I thought this was obvious but apparently people can't think rationally)

M35: Pokémon M/A/F/I/A
(Roleflip / 16 Players)

To celebrate the release of Pokémon Sun/Moon, why not a Pokémon-themed Mafia game?

The Poké-Mafia
Normal Mafia win conditions.
Gengar: The leader of the Poké-Mafia. Their Lynch Vote counts as 2. Move - Sucker Punch: Can target another player each Night. If the target uses a Move on Gengar that Night they are KO’ed instead and their Move has no effect.
Magmortar: Appears to be the Third Party. Move - Confuse Ray: Can target another player each Night. If that target uses a Move, that Move will affect the user instead of the intended target of the Move.
Cacturne: They cannot use this Move two Nights in a row. Move - Spiky Shield: If Cacturne is attacked when using this Move, no effect occurs and the attacker can't attack on the next Night.
Guzzlord: Move - Brutal Swing: Can KO a player each Night.

The Poké-Town
Normal Town win conditions.
Musharna: Move - Mind Reader: Can find out the Alignment (Poké-Mafia, Poké-Town, or Third Party) of a player each Night.
Bastiodon: Move - Wide Guard: Can protect another player each Night from all effects of a Move.
Decidueye: Move - Leaf Blade: Can KO a player each Night.
Charjabug: Move - Spark: Can paralyze a player each Night, making them unable to use their Move that Night or cast a Lynch Vote during the next Day.
Gigalith: Takes 2 KO Moves to be KO’ed (although can be KO’ed by one Lynching).
Magikarp
Magikarp
Magikarp
Magikarp
Magikarp

Slaking: Appears to be of the Poké-Mafia.

The Third Party
Win Condition: Be the last player standing
Magearna: Move - Heart Swap: Can choose a player at the end of each Night. That player's Move will become Heart Swap and Magearna’s Move will become the target's Move. If the target has no Move then Heart Swap has no effect.

Notes
  • The Poké-Mafia members know each other but do not have a collaborative Nightkill.
  • Gigalith’s ability is not considered a Move and cannot be switched with Heart Stamp.
  • If Heart Stamp is used on Gengar, Gengar still keeps the two Lynch Votes.
  • Moves are the same as abilities in classic Mafia games.

Elemental Madness
- 15 players
- Cardflip

Warlocks
Pyromancer: Might choose one of the following actions each night: a) defend him/herself with using fire, b) kill someone independently with fire. (cannot repeat the same action three nights in a row)
Cryomancer: Might choose one of the following actions each night: a) freeze a player which makes them silent for the following day b) once throughout the game, s/he might summon a blizzard and delay the death messages by 2 phases/till the end of the next night phase
Electromancer: Might shock a player and roleblock them each night which also makes the targeted player’s lynch votes not count the following day phase.

The Town
Fortune-teller: Can inspect the color of a player each night with his crystal ball.
Doctor: Can save a player from dying each night and also make another player immune to elemental (fire, ice, electricity) attacks.
Wizard: Has the ability to kill a player each night. If it targets a townie, s/he'll lose this ability for the following night.
Dissector: Can inspect a dead player’s role each night.
Phantom: Immune to nightkills. Knows who the Skeleton Magician is.
Skeleton Magician: Due to lack of skin and flesh, s/he is immune to fire, ice and electricity based attacks. Knows who the Phantom is.
Townie
Townie

Townie

3rd Party
Infernal Spirit: May choose a player to kill each night and he also has nightkill immunity. Might curse a player each night.

Explanations:
Skeleton Magician's elemental immunity - This makes him immune to the pyromancer's independent kills, the cryomancer's silence freezing and the electromancer's roleblock shocking ability, but s/he is not immune to the blizzard if s/he got nightkilled that night.
Doctor's elemental protection - Works similarly to the Skeleton Magician's immunity...
Dissector's ability - The ability always reveals the exact role of the dead player and it never misleads because there aren't any roles faking their identity.
Cryomancer's ability - 2 phase delay = if the ability is used for the N2 kills, then the deaths will be revealed at the end of N3
Infernal Spirit's curse: The IS makes the cursed player forbidden to vote for another person he chose. If the cursed person votes for the other player, the cursed one will die. The cursed player doesn't know if s/he is cursed.

Resub, removed the Jester though and tweaked / clarified on a few roles

Vigilantics Deluxe

14 players, cardflip. This game is inspired by the Town-of-Salem mode Vigilantics. This includes some more special roles and gimmicks.

Both vigilantes and witches shouldn't use their power recklessly (power usage is optional unless you're forced to).

--- Witches --- 5 players

Control mechansim: All witches can individually control a player at night to target a second player. If that player is town, they'll use their power on the second player. Controlling a player counts as visiting them. Witches can't force a player to target themselves. If multiple witches control the same player, the effective command will be decided at random.

The witches don't know each other.

Head Witch: Can additionally inspect a player at night (cardflip).
Herbal Witch: Can additionally revive a killed witch once through the game. The revived witch can use their ability immediately. The herbal witch will also know about black-flipped players' identities.
Overzealed Witch: Is forced to use her ability every night. Knows that she's overzealed.

--- Vigilantes and Allies --- 9 players

All vigilantes can attempt to shoot another player at night, they have 3 shots for the whole game. If they kill an innocent, they can't shoot the next night unless they're controlled (the control has higher priority).

Head Vigilante: Can additionally inspect at player at night.
Doctor: Can heal a player at night. Can additionally protect himself once in the game.
Veteran: Can go on alert 3 times in the game, staying home and killing everyone who visits them, and witches can't hinder his decision on going alert or not.
Lunatic Vigilante: Must use his ability every night except for Night 1. Cardflips like the Jester, due to his mental condition. Knows that he's lunatic.

Mafia: Outnumbers the Town and Angelic cat.
Consigliere: Can search one person every night to find out their role.
Consort: Can prevent a person's role from activating.
Propagandist: Make have a message displayed in the middle of the night. (Twilight-->Dawn)
Forger: May forge other's Last Will.
Town: All Mafia Killed, and the cat is either dead or an Angle.
Captain (Sheriff): Can inspect anyone during the night (Twilight-->Dawn) to figure out their allegiance.
Lieutenant: May host a second lynching during the day (Dawn-->Twilight) (May only use this twice)
Propagandist: Make have a message displayed in the middle of the night. (Twilight-->Dawn)
Explosive Bodyguard: Once a night, can place a haphazard warning system to protect someone. What makes it haphazard is that it explodes to warn that some is under attack. As a result, It notifies in the town. The person visited gets notified who all visited them that night as well. (The explosion cancels out all abilities and assassination attempts on that person. The warning system is permanent until activated.)
System wrote:An explosion went off last night. Every rushed out side to see that ________'s home was covered in smoke.
Witch: Immune to nightkills, but does not know she is a witch.
Cadet: When the Captain and/or Lieutenant dies, s/he is notified of the death, and gets to either take on the Captain or Lieutenant's ability. Her/his cardflip color becomes Pink if both abilities are taken, else turns blue.
Townie: Can choice to vote publicly or via ballot box.
Townie: Can choice to vote publicly or via ballot box.
Townie: Can choice to vote publicly or via ballot box.
Third party
Demonic Cat with Angel Wings and a Halo (DCwAWaaH for short): Wins the game based on the side she/he choices. Can switch on even days only (dawn-->twilight). If Angle, Lynch vote counts as three, Can inspect a person to find their role, and wins if the following roles are dead:
System wrote:Consigliere
Consort
Forger
Explosive Bodyguard
Witch
and both Propagandists

or with the town; however, if demonic is chosen, may kill any one person at night (Twilight-->Dawn) with their role revealed on death. Wins if all Blue and Green roles are dead, or with the Mafia.
System wrote:_______(user) has been found ling in the town-square with ________(role) carved into her/his stomach with a lot of cats around her/him.
If DCwAWaaH dies, then the game becomes roleflip.
Mechanics:

Twilight(Night)-->Dawn(Day). (This is for lore/abilities making sense.)
Last Will.
