First things first, we have some new additions to the staff team. Please welcome, in alphabetical order,
Intuition, JupiHornet, and Waddle Derp
to the staff team. Thanks again to all who sent in applications. Additionally, Kley will be rejoining the team.
It was exactly three years ago today, on December 20th, 2013, that SuperMarioBrosX.org was flooded with new members. It was the result of an effort from several people to improve the community, and this effort had started weeks before this date (which is hinted at by the join dates of the first few members). Those who remember that time will probably remember how hectic and tense it was, but hopefully also how cool it was to eventually have SMBX under one roof again.
About a week and a half later, I was out in California; I was pretty busy with all of the things that were happening, so I didn't pay a huge amount of attention to the site. It was on New Years Day that I was in the 125th annual Tournament of Roses Parade, so I was out for the first part of the day. After the parade, we all lined up to get In-N-Out Burger. It was in this line that I read a message that had been left for me on IRC by Valtteri. Basically, something bad had happened, but we're not going to get into that because there's no reason to. The forums had to be closed temporarily, and we'll leave it at that. I had some downtime that afternoon and was in my hotel room trying to discuss and fix things, but I didn't reopen the forums yet. The next day was spent at Disneyland - my friends and I went into a gift shop at California Adventure, where I checked the forums on my phone and saw that they had been reopened. It was at this point that I disabled the board from a gift shop, which was a story that I would continue to tell to this day. We left Disney and went to the airport, where I had a red eye flight back home. Because of the time change, we took off around midnight and got back around 7 AM even though it was only a four hour flight. Having been up since about 7 AM California time, it was about a 21 hour day if we don't count the small amount of sleep I probably got on the plane; I got home and went to sleep, and I think the forums reopened later that day.
The next several months would be interesting, especially in the summer with the spam attacks. We also introduced Mafia, though, and that was cool.
Anyway, the point is that I've put a lot into SMBX and have gotten so much out of it. SMBX has even influenced what I'm majoring in at school. But it's time for me to move on and not hold as active of a role here anymore. There are qualified people that are more involved with the game and the direction it's moving in that should be in the position that I'm in. As of today, official leadership of SMBX is hereby transferred to, in alphabetical order,
Pseudo, Quill, Valtteri, and Zeldamaster12.
But don't worry, I'm not leaving. I'll still be the webmaster of Super Mario Bros. X and will be around when anyone needs me, but leadership will be held equally by these four. They'll work as a team to lead in the best interest of the game and community.I owe thanks to all of you and everyone that has made this site, game, and community what it is. I also must thank Redigit, for being the one that brought us all together. If he ever drops by, y'all should thank him too.
Thank you for the memories and so much more,
