Yeah, you can have CGFX's when playing online.

First name the level.
Secondly, save the level on your computer and tell the other players to save it on there's.
Thirdly, make a folder called the same name as the level file name. Move/copy the exact CGFX's files into the folder.
Forthly, after doing above. tell all the players to save the level again to apply the CGFX's. - (This is just in case you have/are already building the level before adding CGFX's).

You should do this:

1. Type in www.google.com
2. Either search for a help solution or download.
2.1 If you got it by a gelp solution and the answer gave a path where it should belong do what they say there.
2.2 If you downloaded it put it into the smbx folder or the path where it actually should be
3. Re-downloaded smbx. Mine came with this file together.

Looks like DarkMatt may have removed the video from his channel.

They're in the SMBX folder. (you could've searched a bit before asking)

Of course it doesn't. This was posted 1 year ago and Darkmatt deleted it from his channel obviously.

maybe once they've fixed up smbx 2.0's level editor a little (at least to the extent of me understanding it properly) they can begin making a more stable online mode.
