World map view

I am making my first full game, and I am making the world map. I decided to use all the tiles in SMW meaning some places need to be different in terms of instead of water, lava. I spread them out, but I am afraid they can be view-able from levels. Come someone tell me how far the camera goes from Mario on the world map?

The camera is always centred on Mario. It can't detach from him.
