The first SMB.
Say what you will about Lost Levels and SMBDX. I mean, yeah, Lost Levels IS hard, but unlike the first one, there were 13 actual worlds as opposed to just 8. But that won't do justice. The wind element was also a nice addition imo, and whether you choose Mario or Luigi actually affects how you should play the levels, which was not in the original.
As for SMBDX...well...it's a remake. Of course I end up liking it better. But even so, I liked the bonus features. Plus, You VS. Boo mode and medals are around for those who want a good challenge.
...The first game, despite it being good, doesn't really have anything that can stand up to anything else on the list imo. (SML does appear like that at first, but World 2-3 and World 4-3 exist, and the bosses all act differently, too. And despite how short it is, it's still better than SMB1 to me.)
(Oh, wow. I ended up defending 3 games at once as well as stating why I chose SMB1 as the worst among the group. Sorry about that wall of text, guys.)

Probably Super Mario Land. The rhythm of it is very stiff and the sprites are really small. Still a nice game however.

The original and lost levels have aged terribly, which isn't necessarily the game devs fault but still makes them a lot less fun to play compared to its sequels.

Super Mario Bros 3. I never saw something special on it, but I liked the visuals~
The game always bored me, also some levels were poor designed, I mean, I know that there was several limitations in these years but c'mon!
SMB3 wins a Meh from me

I would say Super Mario World...
....
Let me explain! is not that I don't like it, I like Mario world a lot! is just that when I was little, it was the mario game that more trouble give me, it was very hard for me, so I kinda dislike it for that when I was a kid, and it didn't change with time, so now is more of like, I know is a great game, and I don't dislike it, but that memory of being a cruel game with me still haunts me.

Honestly, SMB1 wasn't even that good.
Compared to SMB2 and SMB3, the level design was always bland and boring.
The gameplay was decent until World 3, where the levels were the same thing over and over. Running in open fields and kicking a shell toward a line of goombas, that's it.

I agree, I mean, it revolutionized the Jump 'n' Run Genre, is one of the most sold games of all times and one of the most iconic games out there, but other than that, it's mediocre at best.

You don't like SMW because it's hard for you?
I wonder how you reacted to worlds like Forest of Illusions and Chocolate Mountain

Well, I'll confess that I never completed SMW, I'm stuck in Chocolate Mountain... I just reached Forest of Illusions when I was kid

I would say super mario land on game boy. Not only the sprites are small, but the fire flower, that fucking fire flower physic of hell! Oh, also,I found the game boring, at a point that I simply deleted it from my 3DS after finished it. The only good points, I guess, are the music and the originality.

I feel like people didn't like SML or SML2 because they were quite different from the other mainstream titles. Personally I quite liked those games, they were refreshing, especially SML2. My least favourite's SMB Deluxe. It just doesn't seem to bring too much new stuff to the table.

Bump Time!
I wanna change my vote because I just played Super Mario World on my SupaBoy, and I totally like it!
Sure i had issues with the Super Mushroom being more common than other power-ups, and the damage system in the original SNES version, but I'll grow accustom to these later on! ^^"
I'm gonna revote in the poll, saying "The Lost Levels" is the my least favorite!

You get mushroom when you're small. It’s literally the same in every mario game. How can they be more "common"?
If anything, in SMB3 they’re more common, just because you can them from those fucking toad houses even if you're big.

Maybe he's talking about how in SMW mushrooms would pop out of bushes? I suppose they were more common in that way.
Anyway, my least favorite Mario is probably Lost Levels. But to give Nintendo credit, they did create what was basically the first ever rage game, which is some impressive foresight on Nintendo's part.
