That's not how it works. The level uses graphics from the folder with the level's exact name.

Did you download the SMBX 2.0 Beta 3 as advised, and if so, where did you save it? It should be a zip file if everything goes correctly, and inside the zip, the mushroom-symbol file should simply be a game launcher.

Also if I don't get too busy and done playing the episodes I'm currently playing and if I find motivation, then maaaybe I'm in ...

You should have put it all in one folder and not all scattered in the downloads, else it will be a mess. But you should be using 2.0 beta 3 for this contest.

No, but to an extent all of these contests with SMBX are the same

Basic differences to MaGLX is that this contest has a long deadline, because you're allowed to submit up to three levels, and also the judging is split into categories instead of just being a score out of 10 or 100.

You can use either 38, 1.3.x, or 2.0. But there's not much purpose in using 1.3.x. Just specify your version in the info file.
