I found this game while googling so I thought I try it out and it is very good and one of my favorites, though I wish it was done in Gambas instead of VisualBasic and was open source, but at least it works in Wine with a few dependencies.
I usually go by my alias pouar, I'm that rare combination of a Christian programmer who likes death metal. I'm into Linux (aka GNU/Linux) and the various BSDs. I'm also a bit of a gamer and a Mario fan as you can tell from my avatar. I'm a Free Software/Open Source enthusiast and advocate. My favorite company is Red Hat which is a company specializing in Linux and Open Source. They're one of the very few companies I actually like. They mostly cater to businesses and corporations though, but their tech is awesome and they are a huge contributor to Free Software and Open Source. I use Arch Linux as my main Linux distro but I also have CentOS, Debian, Linux Mint, and Fedora installed. I also have a Windows VM as a last resort.

You're Christian and into death metal music? Wow, that's not common. I gotta say though that I'm Christian (not extremely religious, but still) and into metal music as well, and I do like some death metal music, too.
Linux is pretty awesome, I have a Linux Mint distribution installed on my laptop. It requires a lot of IT knowledge, however, of which I have some, but I still use Windows 7 the most because many games and programs are only compatible with Windows and I'm not really into virtual machines, and Windows is the operating system I'm used to since my childhood.

Linux Mint is easy compared to many distros as it was meant to be easy to use. If you want hard you should try Arch Linux, and when using Arch you probably want to learn how to program and you definitely should learn the command line. Wine (which is a compatibility layer used to run Windows binaries in Unix-like systems) works most of the time for Windows programs, but not all of them, and some programs require a bit of tweaking to wine and/or the program you're trying to run, so yeah. If you do decide to use Wine there's this GUI frontend called PlayOnLinux which makes Wine much easier to use, but I'm smart enough to not need it but you might like it. Also VirtualBox is quite easy to use. It's probably the easiest and most full featured hypervisor on Linux so If you want to use virtual machines you might want to try it out. There's also KVM and Xen but those may require a bit of command-line-fu to set up. I would recommend VMware workstation, but it's proprietary and sucks on anything but Windows. They still use HAL on Linux machines which became obsolete in Linux somewhere between 2008-2010. It's now 2014 and they still rely on it. But anyway, nice to meet you.

Nice to meet you as well. You definitely have tons of knowledge on Linux, and it's always great to meet experts. They're quite rare nowadays, as Kep said.

I actually remember reading that before downloading Linux Mint. "Meant for users who were used to Windows for a long time" or something like that. That's why I chose that and not another Linux distribution. But even Linux Mint highly depends on command lines. I found that out when trying to modify the GRUB screen and the Login screen.

I know a bit of HTML, a bit of PHP, a bit of Java, a bit of Prolog, and a bit of the command line. It surely won't do, but I'm very interested in information technology and might give Arch Linux a try one day.

Also, thanks for the detailed information about virtual machines and Wine. Doesn't sound as bad as I always thought it was.

If you want to install SMBX in Wine you could use this pol file, which is the format for installing apps with PlayOnLinux, it's essentially a bash script. The pol file is for an older version of SMBX so you may need to edit it for the newer version. You need to install winetricks first which is a tool for downloading and installing stuff in Wine. To do this without PlayOnLinux, install wine and winetricks, then run

winetricks quartz devenum vb6run

in the command line then right-click the exe then select "Open With" then "Wine Windows Program Loader".
