Then it donned on me.
In all my years in this community I kept trying relentlessly to build this project up. Even after three revival attempts I was honestly too stubborn to realize I'm beating a horse that's been dead since probably 2014. But in the process it's continued to grow stale on me, and I failed to give this any identity other than "generic SMB3 styled episode with ships." But all the while I've had surges of ideas that make me want to build upon them, but to do that it'd require me to wipe the slate clean and start over.
So I'm gonna do what I should've done a long time ago.
I'm officially laying The Ultimate Armada to rest. I'm also gonna take a much-needed break from projects altogether. In the meantime I want to build up my ideas and come back in the future with something truly original and new, something I'd be proud to post here.

*The first demo is out!
It showcases some of the levels from world 1 (plus one secret) organized into a demo world for your convenience. COME GET IT.
This is officially my last attempt at making this project. Depending on how busy/lazy I end up becoming in real life, the time between updates may vary. But don't worry it WILL be finished this time! ...Eventually.
Story:
Every year, the Mushroom Kingdom holds the Annual Spring Festival to celebrate the coming of spring. Normally it is a time of peace and good times, but this year Bowser decided to sic his army on them! The evil Koopa King swooped in and stole Princess Peach yet again, calling the Mario Brothers to action. However, this time, Bowser has something up his sleeve. He has been creating an enormous battalion of airships in secret, a sect called The Ultimate Armada, which he plans to send to the Mushroom Kingdom while the Brothers are off on their adventure...
The episode features 7 main worlds, each with 5-7 normal levels, a fortress, a castle, and an armada. Each world is chock full of secrets and challenges to search out.
The worlds are...
1: Toadstool Terrace
2: Sunstroke Sands
3: Rockbound Rapids
4: Whimsical Woodland
5: Glistening Glacier
6: Azure Altitude
7: Dastardly Domain
*World names are subject to change before episode is finished
Progress:
World 1: 100%, 8/8 levels completed
World 2: 40%, 4/10 levels completed
And of course, the pièce de résistance, SCRRRRREENSHOTS!!!

Based on these screenshots, I suggest you add more coins, otherwise they would look bland. Also, I would like to be your beta tester.

Sorry about my absurd absence. I've been spending my time drowning in schoolwork and (attempting to) study LunaLua, but now that school is letting up a bit I have some more time to work on this!

The paths and levels are on the actual map. I removed them in the screenshots for the sake of not spoiling the secret paths on the map.

Just a small update as it's been a while since I posted.
World 1 is being majorly reworked so it may be a while before world 2 is continued. Also, if anyone proficient in LunaLua is willing to help me develop boss AI or any code in general, PM me so we can discuss.
And don't worry, it's not gonna be cancelled again! We're seeing this through to completion!

Oh look, it's the amazing disappearing, reappearing project! Hopefully you do stay to your word and not cancel it, because some of the screenshots look good, especially the fortress! Also, why are you not using those Mario/Luigi/Bowser/whatever sprites you used when you created the first thread for the project?

That world map is ginormous compared to the other things I've seen.
Nonetheless, this looks like a really good project, I'll be tuning in to this.
