Map instant warps

Postby Hernan23Pro » Thu Oct 06, 2016 11:58 pm

I hate to make these topics because their are annoying but when making a warp in the map,it teleports instantly,and it must be delayed by 1 second on black screen (like level pipe warps :V) it makes actually very hard to warp because a simple click can become 2 warps at the same time (entrance -> exit -> entrance) and sometimes it goes a path before the warp level: [path]->[warp level]->[double-warping]->[PATH!!]

I played episode maps and im the only who happens that...

What exactly do you mean by instantly... did you used instant warps for traversing from level to world map but in a different location? I'd rather go with either a warp pipe or door for warping positions on the world map because instant, as I recall they don't really work as teleporting you on a different location on the map and then it probably won't work to open up like that.

No,when you place a level in the world map editor,there's a screen that says ''Map Warp Location'',with a X and Y bubble for placing the coordinates to be warped in the world map,and by playing a episode with world map and warp to other locations in the world map,it makes a 1-second delay with the black screen (like if you place a warp in a normal level that ends the level,you push the arrow direction to enter the pipe and in 1 second you're back in the world map,because of the ''6 - Warp Exit'' when placing exits.)

I think i explained myself correctly now.

That's normal. There's nothing you can do to make the delay bigger. You should make sure to press the jump button only once if you don't want to run in this problem.

Nothing. I think that's what usually happens. As usual though, this issue could be solved with LunaLua

You mean the delay between warping? That's usually either the warping time between level locations or if you want to have a level inbetween it goes to the level first and then to the level warping icon thing. The delay is usually normal but be aware that more graphics means longer loading time but only real noticeable when you traverse into levels instead of world maps but it can be both probably.

Im meaning of a level icon in the world map that teleports to another position without need of completing a level.

The problem is that there's no delay bewteen a warp and another,and if you press a bit you can warp 2 times.

Then just press once and let go? I think we still have no idea whatsoever as to what you are trying to achieve

Generally it takes in about 1 second to get to the other warping location on the map and once the paths are open you can move... and while going into the warp pipe try to not press the jump button again after entering one or else you go back to the previous warp again.

It's not possible then... that delay is persistent as in unchangeable to do that in SMBX. It's actually there for a reason so you can hear the "entrance" sound effect so it actually feels like you're entering from one pipe to another without being awkwardly instant.

Although you could do it with LunaLua--it's not impossible at all. Instead of using the warps, just get the player positions that you want to teleport from and to. Then use one of this code and fill in those values. I'm pretty sure it'll work. x1 is the starting x-position, y1 is the starting y-position, and x2 and y2 are the co-ordinates of the location you want to teleport to. You can duplicate the sets of tables inside the tables (like {x1, x2}) as often as you like, just put a comma and a space in between them. Also, this code runs when the player is pressing the jump key, but you can change that. Put this in a lunaoverworld.lua file.

Code: Select all

local xPosTable = {{x1, x2}};
local yPosTable = {{y1, y2}};

function onInputUpdate()
   if player.jumpKeyPressing then
      for k, v in pairs(xPosTable) do
         if (player.x == v[1]) and (player.y == yPosTable[k][1]) then
            player.x = xPosTable[k][2];
            player.y = yPosTable[k][2];
         end
      end
   end
end
