2 newbie questions

Hello, I'm new to this forum and to SMBX and I have a few questions so I decided to register here.
1. Why is there both SMBX and SMBX2(beta), instead of adding to SMBX? Will we be able to play worlds from SMBX in SMBX2 or I will need to have both and to use both if I want more worlds?
2. What happened to NSMBX? Lack of users? If so, why? Shouldn't newer be better?
Thanks for your answers and sorry if they have already been asked.

SMBX2 is an addition to SMBX. The reason it's separate is because it's not being developed by Redigit, who created the original SMBX. However, vanilla SMBX levels WILL be supported, and there's pretty much no reason to get SMBX in favour of SMBX2.

There's currently 3 versions of SMBX floating out there.
1.3 is the last official version of SMBX, and is years old.
1.4 is an unofficial update of SMBX which adds a bunch of new NPCs and a scripting language of its own. While boasting a bunch of new content, it isn't 100% bug free at the moment.
2.0 is a collaborated attempt to tool up SMBX, and is more focused on adding scripting options and accessibility. It's quite stable and accessible, but new content to make levels with is a low priority for it.
1.3 levels can be converted into 1.4 but not the other way. 2.0, someone has to confirm, I think does the same, converting one way but not the other.
It's a matter of what you want. I would honestly recommend 2.0 if this is your first time using SMBX.

NSMBX was usually SMBX Remastered back then when SuperMarioMan was active in the circle of 2011-2012 but since the developement died it was discontinued and later on it was called the NSMBX Forums.

2.0 plays the same levels as 1.3, no conversion required. Levels made with 2.0 can be played with 1.3, but the new features won't work.

Pretty much. Lua scripts will not work, and new blocks would be invisible.
