So I know that the trailer was just released today, and that Beta 4 is being worked on vigorously, but
In the future, would we be getting some items from the new Super Mario Maker 2?

Quite a few features in SMM2 already happen to be in SMBX2 beta 4 (such as clear pipes and snake blocks. it's almost as if Nintendo were reading the blog posts and claims sheet.

So although nothing new is likely to be added to beta 4 that has not already been done, some SMM2 features happen to be coming.

I think the really funny part is that they're even adding the SMBX38A parachutes and SMW romhack switches, haha.

so, i'm a huge fan of smbx and smbx2 (including the fact that smbx2 is amazing and capitalized on the editor, or least thats how i feel) and i love to play the game but now when i go to see the download page for smbx2 to see if theres anything different it won't load, why is this this? I already downloaded smbx2 beta 3 but i check daily to see if the download page has changed, and now it just won't even load?

The page is having issues. It wouldn't change at all until we'll release a new version either way, though, and you're more likely to learn about such a release through this topic, youtube or the blog either way.

In beta 5, do you think we'd catch up to Mario Maker 2?

I know this would be a lot more work and not something I really want so its a meh idea but down the road you could have 2 versions. The basic original 2.0 for use with older versions and an advanced version for use with new features. That's the only way I ever see it working. Having said that I think the one we have is just fine. It's not like we don't have enough content already besides more enemies and powerups which can always be added later. Good job on this guys.

There is no need to add a third version of SMBX, which would divide the community even further, when it is possible to maintain backwards compatibility with older versions of the same engine.

you haven't noticed anything

this is still in development, it's going on for longer than previously anticipated but that's because of
1) the load of new content (200+ NPCs alone)
2) bugs (the major part as of now)
3) running on lower manpower than before (however the dev channel at discodehaus is still active)

for these reasons, the team has declined from claiming a set release date. It will be out when it's ready.

edit: on the other hand there is indeed evidence that the release is getting closer.

A release date has NEVER been promised.
