This is a pretty straightforward post I'm going to make as it is something that I have been really curious about. Within the Anime Community, I have heard some people say they like to watch anime with the japanese voice acting (with english subtitles) oppose to the english voice acting while for other people it's vice versa and for other people they don't mind watching it in both languages.

So to put it blunt, do you guys like to watch anime in english, japanese, or both? And why?

subbed because i can't stand that gobeldy gook crap

I accidentally misclick "dub" while trying to hit "both". My reason is impatience and to lazy to read the dialogue.

Edit:Switching between can be challenging though.

Subbed, bc they always treat the western audience like small children and censor everything.

I like dubbed anime when it's done right, but subbed anime on the other hand might be more accurate than the dubs most of the time.

But badly dubbed anime is better than accurate subs and well-made dubs, as it makes up for some of the greatest anime moments in history due to being hilarious!

Sorry, I'm not so serious when it comes to things like this. But in all seriousness, dubbed anime is good when it's done right, like I said, and subbed anime with accurate translations can be a replacement for the cheesy dubs of certain anime that have those cases, but it's the hilariously bad and totally cheesy dubs that reign over everything else in English anime, or Engrish.

In conclusion, both, if done right, but when done horribly wrong, it has to go to the dubs due to the hilarity of said dubs.

I don't bother with re-dubs. They're rarely as good as the original voices, they come much later, and I don't need them (especially with Japanese cartoons where I can sort of understand what's being said anyway).

This doesn't just apply to Japanese cartoons. I watched Code Lyoko in English, but that's only because I couldn't for the life of me find the original French audio.

I will mention three things that always annoy me to no end which can be found in a lot of English dubs of Japanese cartoons:

1. Changing characters' names for no reason (e.g. Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters)

2. Changing the story or setting for no reason (e.g. Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters, again)

3. Using untranslated Japanese when there's a perfectly good English equivalent (e.g. Naruto)

You forgot one

4. Using the absolute WORST voice actors imaginable (Sailor Moon)

Well, the only English re-dub I've seen that I thought was good was Dragon Ball Kai (at least what I saw of it when it was airing on Nicktoons), but honestly the quality of the voice acting doesn't bother me as much as the other stuff. Regarding Sailor Moon, there are things that bother me about its English dub WAY more than reduced voice acting quality, like the name changes, the way Luna sounds comically serious, and the ridiculous intro that doesn't match the tone of the show in the slightest. (Though I should note, I never actually watched an episode of Sailor Moon in the English dub, only in Japanese; I've only seen sparse English dub clips mainly from the Nostalgia Critic episode on it.)

Luna sounds like Mon Mothma.

I personally agreed that the DIC dub of Sailor Moon is miles better than the Nicktoons dub of Dragon Ball Z Kai. Because I saw the original Sailor Moon with my older sister back in the early to mid 1990's!

*For those who don't know, DIC was an animation company from the 90's... Don't konw what happen to them...

Dic did the Super Mario Show, which has the best worst ending theme ever.

Its so bad, yet so wonderfully charming.

The Mario cartoons were produced in the United States though, they weren't dubbed into English.

All 3 seasons of the "Super Mario Bros. Super Show" were American made. And I personally agreed, the ending of the first season is pretty bad.
