M33 - Host Sign-ups (Poll now available!)

Postby Julia Pseudo » Sun Aug 28, 2016 12:37 am

Mafia 33

We're looking for your quality mafia hosting skills and your quality mafia games for our next game!

You've seen Mafia.
You've played Mafia.
Now, it might just be your time to host some Mafia!

Sorry to Sanct, but he will not be hosting. :(

How do I apply?
All you need to do is post your game suggestion in this topic!
However, you must have participated in at least one mafia game in order to host a game.

After you have posted, your two Game Masters, Spinda and I (there's FallingSnow too but he doesn't show up that often), will edit your post and respond in green at the bottom if we approve.
If we have comments or changes that we recommend, we will edit in red.
Optional suggestions may be in yellow or orange.

Tips to Remember:
Each user may only submit one game, so choose wisely!
Your game should contain around 13-18 players (a little lower than usual, due to current interest).
Have about 1 mafia member for each 4/5 townies.
Your game doesn't need to be overly complex to be fun and interesting. Sometimes a good combination of roles can produce a better result.
Don't try to go overboard with the custom roles! You don't need to change the entire theme of your game for it to be interesting.

Ready for Mafia?
Think up some ideas!

The year is 1855. The setting, the American West. A team of gangsters, commissioned by a time-traveling oil tycoon from the year 2180 named Big Doyle and led by legendary outlaw Jonny "The Fastest Gun in the West" Peterson, has infiltrated the once-peaceful mining town of Gunshot Gulch, Nevada in order to dig up a plentiful source of oil located below the surface. Oil is exceptionally rare in the late 22nd century and Doyle plans to bring the gallons he would dig up back to his own time, where he will sell it for trillions of euros.
The gangsters' only opposition is the 13 innocent townspeople of Gunshot Gulch who are determined to protect their village. Well, that's not totally right. Thankfully, Doyle was followed back in time by a Time Cop who has taken a vow to prevent the timeline from being altered and to stop the villainous oil tycoon at any cost. Unfortunately, he's already failed the first part, what with making his presence known to villagers in 1855 and all. But that's alright; he can still succeed in the second.
Oh yeah, and there's some prospector who wants all the gold in Gunshot Gulch for himself or something too, no matter who he has to kill. The townspeople will have to deal with all this in...

M32+: Peak Oil, 200 Years Too Soon
Format: Roleflip - 18 Players
This is a roleflip game. Since every player is a unique character, their specific role will be identified when they are killed (by default). However, cardflip colors are still included.

The Gangster Squad
Big Doyle: A greedy oil tycoon from the year 2180. He is the diabolical mastermind behind all of this, and can use cloaking technology to alter his appearance to appear blue if no autopsy is performed on him.
Jonny "The Fastest Gun in the West" Peterson: A legendary outlaw in 1850s Nevada. As long as he's alive, he will be able to kill one player on even-numbered nights, thanks to his incredible quick draw.
Black Bill Redford: Named for his ashen face thanks to his work with explosives, Bill can place a bomb on one player each night that is rigged to explode if that player dies; if so the player will cardflip black with no name revealed. The bombs will decay by the next night.
Mr. Skull: 160 years before he joined the ghost pirate crew, Mr. Skull was a gangster in the Old West. He spies on other players and gives them good bones and calcium, and can visit one player each night to eavesdrop on any host PMs they received.
(All members have contact with each other and conspire to kill one player each night.)
Goal: Eliminate the Prospector and equal or outnumber the townspeople.

The Townspeople
Doc Fesstival: The doctor who performs the autopsy on players every morning and night after someone dies. If he dies, the roleflip mechanic will be retired in favor of regular cardflips, since he won't be able to identify the bodies. He can also choose to retire and disable this ability during the night from Night 2 onwards, but this is a permanent decision.
Time Cop: A mysterious time cop from the future who doesn't play by the rules. He's extensively researched the population of Gunshot Gulch and can inspect one player each night to learn that player's cardflip color.
Sheriff Westin: Gunshot's sheriff, who has been set aside in his inspection capabilities by the Time Cop. He's looking to build up a posse to combat the gangsters himself, and can reveal his role to one player each night.
Crazy Carl Williams: If Jonny Peterson is the fastest gun in the west, Carl Williams is the craziest. He can kill one player each night, but will lose this ability for one night if he kills an innocent.
One Horse: The only horse in this town, he can sit on one player each night to prevent that player from being night killed. Obviously, he can't sit on himself.
Eric the Bartender: Has no ability, but cardflips blue if not identified by Doc Fesstival.
Lester the Kid: Regular townsperson
Timmy Claymore: Regular townsperson.
Frank Strange: Regular townsperson.
Vinny, the general store owner: Regular townsperson.
The Texan Smoker: Regular townsperson.
Barney the Carnie: Regular townsperson.
TNT Tyrone: A legendary former mercenary who previously worked with Jonny "The Fastest Gun in the West" Peterson. He has been retired for years, but will appear guilty if not identified by Doc Fesstival.
Goal: Eliminate the gangsters and prospector.

The Prospector
Ol' Ben, the Prospector: A crazed and greedy prospector who is obsessed with taking Gunshot Gulch and its oil for himself. Each night, he can kill one player. He can also protect himself by hiding in a hole if someone tries to kill him, rendering him immune to night kills. People don't think of him as a bad guy normally, so he cardflips green if not identified by Doc Fesstival (revealing his stolen gold).
Goal: Be the last player standing.

Shameful resub.
From Under the Floorboards
-Cardflip
-Public votes
-Day/Night

In the dark of the night, an evil cult lurks over the town of Stoneriver, and after one too many sacrifice victims being found in the square, the villagers are rallying together to figure out who the members of the cult are. Meanwhile, an unknown threat sneaks through the town...

The Cult:
Cult Leader - Cardflips red upon inspection, but green upon death.
Cultist
Cultist

The Town:
Mayor Cromby - Once throughout the entire game, he can come forth and reveal his role during the night. On the following day phase, all players may lynch for two targets as opposed to one.
Seer - During the night, may inspect a player, revealing their color to the seer.
The Huntsman - During the night, may kill a player. This ability is lost for the next night phase if an innocent is killed.
Father Gregory - During the night, he may protect a player from nightkills, making them immune for the night phase.
Acolyte - Becomes the Seer when the Seer dies.
Villager
Villager
Villager
Villager
Villager
Deranged Villager - Can lynch vote, but their votes don't count. Knows they are the Deranged.

The Corrupted:
The Corruptor - Immune to nightkills. Lynch votes don't count. Once throughout the entire game, during the night, but only after the first night, the Corruptor can target a player, infecting them with the Corruptor's contagion. That player becomes an Infected. If an Infected successfully kills a player, the Corruptor can use its ability again.
Infected - A player affected by the Corruptor's ability becomes an Infected. Each night, the Infected may kill a player. The Infected can not speak during the day, which means in turn that it can't lynch vote.

EXTRA INFO:
-The Cult wins if they have killed all the Corrupted and outnumber the amount of surviving town members.
-The Town wins if they have killed all of the Cult members and have eliminated all of the Corrupted.
-The Corrupted wins if they have killed off the Cult members and have either eliminated the Town or have turned half the surviving members into Infected.
-When the Seer dies, the Acolyte gains the color and ability of the Seer at the moment the Seer dies, and they will also receive a message that the Seer has died and they have become the Seer.
-When a player is turned into an Infected, they lose their previous role and color, and take on the role and color of the Infected. This happens at the moment they are targeted by the ability (during the phase change), and they will receive a message that they have been turned into an Infected, which causes them to be silenced every day phase.

Ugh, this is a pretty bad thing, but your The Magic Studier. So basically, you like to study the origins of black and white magic alike,
but doing this makes you look very suspicious, maybe even trying to look innocent, just try not to die or you'll end up confusing your teammates even more.

Your goal is to Kill The Dark Wizard and their allies and Burn The Witch Kill The Witch/Warlock. Good Luck!
Oh no, this is no good, but your the Witchery Student. Your a stundent in witchery, seems okay enough right? Well here's the thing, the
fact that your a student in witchery makes you look like you may be the Witch, Or Warlock if your a guy, trying to look like someone just studying witchery. So you'll really not want to die, or you may make your teammates wonder if you were the Witch, Or Warlock, so be careful.
Your Sneaky, your suspicious, your not aligned to the good side, but not aligned to the bad side either, so by process of elimination, this means
that your the Witch! Or Warlock if your male. So basically, each night, you can do some voodoo
magic on someone to make it where if they say a word of your choice that's atleast 6 letters long, they will die. You also can't be killed at night either.

If The Dark Wizard and all their allies as well as the specials, this includes the Blue Slime and Dragon Duo, Are dead, then you win. Good Luck!

M33: Fantastical Decisions
(14 Players / Cardflip; Role Choices)

This game revolves around the gimmick of allowing players to choose their Role from a list of options at the beginning of the game. Role PMs with their options will be sent out first and the game will not start until all players have replied to the Host with their choice. Then players will learn the names of their teammates (if they are of the Dark Creatures) and the game thread will open. Role PMs are below:

Dark Creatures
Leader (x1):
You are not only just one of the Dark Creatures, but you are also their leader. You may choose to be a Dark Elf or a Necromancer.
  • Dark Elf: You are a deceptive and cunning. Your word goes among your team and your Lynch Vote counts as 2. You can collaborate with your teammates each Night to kill a player, however of course, you have vito power over their votes.
  • Necromancer: You are a frightening sorcerer who can communicate with the undead. Your word goes among your team and once during the game you may choose a dead player (at Night). For the rest of the game you will be able to use that player's ability (if they have one) and Lynch vote. (Your Lynch vote now counts as two.) You can collaborate with your teammates each Night to kill a player, however of course, you have vito power over their votes.
Minion (x2):
You are one of the minions under the leader of the Dark Creatures. You may choose to be an Otherworldly Scribe, a Shadow Weaver, or a Grolm Rider.
  • Otherworldly Scribe: You are an unusual creature. No one knows your face and you can travel back and forth between the land of the dead and that of the living. Each Night you can inspect a dead player to find out their Role. You can collaborate with your teammates each Night to kill a player.
  • Grolm Rider: You are a goblin rider of one of the most feared creatures: a grolm. Everyone is frightened of you because of this, so you may target a player each Night. Just by revealing yourself in the distance, that player will be unable to use their Ability if they have one (Roleblocked).
  • Shadow Weaver: You are a stealthy human with some dark powers. Each Night you can wrap a player in a shroud of shadows making them cardflip Black the next day. You can collaborate with your teammates each Night to kill a player.
Light Creatures
Greater Dragon (x1):
You are the strongest and most powerful of dragons, allied with the other Light Creatures. You may be either a Gold Dragon or a Silver Dragon.
  • Gold Dragon: You are a strong-willed and majestic dragon. You can choose up to 2 players each Night. During the next Day Phase, you may modify these player's Lynch Votes from one player to another. (If they do not vote, you cannot do anything to that player's vote.)
  • Silver Dragon: You are a clever, resourceful young dragon. You can craft a Magic Power Rod twice during the game. On two Nights of your choosing, placing a Magic Power Rod on a player will cause all Abilities (including Nightkills) to be focused on them, except for those from the Third Party for that Night only. If there are two Crafty Iron Dragons and two Magic Power Rods are used on the same Night on different targets, they will have no effect on targets of Abilities and Nightkills.
Lesser Dragon (x2):
You are one of the less powerful dragons, although you are still one of the strongest creatures allied with the other Light Creatures. You may be either a Green Dragon, an Rainbow Dragon, or a Crafty Iron Dragon.
  • Green Dragon: You are a calm, simple-minded dragon, however you have a strong grasp on the powers of nature. You can wrap a player in vines each Night, making then unable to use their Ability that Night and cast a Lynch Vote the next Day.
  • Rainbow Dragon: You are a beautiful creature and can choose your colour (Red, Orange, Green, or Blue) each Night. This choice of colour will last up until the end of the next Day phase.
  • Crafty Iron Dragon: You are a unique, semi-robotic dragon that is very intelligent due to your increased mental capacity. You can use your advanced digital programming to find out the colour of a player each Night.
Healer/Avenger (x1):
You are a skilled elf trained in either that art of violence or healing, allied with the other Light Creatures. You may be either a River Elf or a Scarlet Elf.
  • River Elf: You are a skilled healer and peacemaker. You can choose one player each Night and follow them around. Although you cannot prevent an Ability from being used on them, if a Nightkill is attempted on them they will live.
  • Scarlet Elf: You are skilled with a bow and arrow and have heavy bonds with all if your teammates. You can kill any player on a Night after an innocent has been Lynched, however you will be distressed if you kill a member of the Light Creatures and will lose your Ability until the Third Party player or a member of the Dark Creatures has been Lynched.
Common Elvenfolk (x6):
You are one of the Common Elvenfolk allied with the Light Creatures. Although you have no special Abilities, you may actually be the one Cursed Elf (of course not by choice).
Third Party
(x1):
You are your own party; allied with no one. You can either be a Glimmering Pixie or the Rogue Dwarf.
  • Glimmering Pixie: You are a tiny, fairy-like creature with some special powers. Not only are you immune to Lynches, since it's really not easy to catch you, but you can also sprinkle a player in Pixie Dust each Night, such that it will remain on them for the rest of the game. However, if you sprinkle a Dark Creature with Pixie Dust, nothing will happen.
  • Rogue Dwarf: You are a tough, strong dwarf with quite the attitude and craftsmanship skills. Not only are you immune to Nightkills, but each Night you can place a bomb on a player that will explode at the end of the next Night.
Game Mechanics
Cardflip: The colour of players will be revealed upon death, but not the true colour if their colour was changed by an ability.
Role Choices: Players may choose any of the Roles they are offered and PM their selection to the Host. (No limit on how many players choose a specific Role).
Dark Creatures Win Condition: Normal Mafia Win Condition (Outnumber Light Creatures and Third Party killed).
Light Creatures Win Condition: Normal Town Win Condition (All Dark Creatures and Third Party killed).
Third Party Win Condition: If Glimmering Pixie--all live players must be covered in Pixie Dust and all Dark Creatures killed; else if Rogue Dwarf is chosen--last one standing.

The Mystery Game I tried to host last time: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1ExX ... sp=sharing
I am doing this as a non-mystery game this time, but oh well.
M32+: Gensokian Mafia 1

Code: Select all

Lore: Everyone in the town has decided it would be a great idea to Cosplay as different Touhou characters, yet when they got the the castle, they were locked in and were given abilities equivalent to the character they chose to Cosplay as.
Chireiden(Palace of the Earth Spirits) Mansion: Outnumber “The Town” and Moriya Shrine Gods.
Satori Komeiji: Can read a person’s mind to see who they are cosplaying as.
Rin Kaenbyou: Can look though a person’s memories and to see every action they did when they were alive (not knocked out)
Koishi Komeiji: Every other night phase, she can alter Aya Shameimaru’s paper before it is published. If not used, this can be stacked to be used multiple nights in a row, but must wait just as long before using it again once she misses a night afterwards; however, if Aya Shameimaru is knocked out, she can manipulate one person’s lynch vote once every other day phase.

“The Town”: Knockout all residents of the Chireiden(Palace of the Earth Spirits) mansion, and the Moriya Shrine Gods.
Reimu Hakurei: Being the Shrine maiden, she can figure out who any one is cosplaying as, but it can only be done once every night. Is in contact with Marisa Kirisame.
Marisa Kirisame: Can use her magic knockout anyone, but if she knocks out someone on her team, she is knocked out by their retaliation in stead. Is in contact with Reimu Hakurei.
Aya Shameimaru: Can write a newspaper article every night to display during the next phase shift.
Yukari Yakumo: Can trap a person in her gaps/voids every night. The following day, they can not speak; however, their lynch vote can still count if Yukari agrees with it.
Suika Ibuki: Due to her strength and anti-soberism, she is immune to the first two attempts to knock her out, but if she is attempted to be knocked out during the night, the person who attempted the feat is also knocked out. (Unless they were the residents of the Chireiden(Palace of the Earth Spirits) mansion.
Nitori Kawashiro: With her inventions, can give a player a radar once per night (via mail). When they receive the mail with the radar in it, they will be informed they can search one person to see who she is cosplaying as.
Patchouli Knowledge: Once during the Entire game, can use her magic to knock someone out, or protect someone. (If the Magic does not knock anyone out, or if the protected person does not get attacked; she can still use her magic.) Gets one use each.
Alice Margatroid: Up to four times in the entire game, can protect someone with a doll every night. (Phase shift notifies when they are destroyed.)

Moriya Shrine Gods: Outnumber “The Town”, and knockout the residents of the Chireiden(Palace of the Earth Spirits) mansion.

Luigi's Fight for the Mushroom Kingdom

18 players, cardflip.

"Luigi and Toad arrive underground and notice that it's civilized. With Toads.

The thing is that these toads are extremely abnormal for some reason ..."

Wario and Waluigi, who are trying to take over the Mushroom Kingdom, and some fellow toads of his, called the Outlandish Toads, are trying to infect all of the civil toads living in the underworld. If they can kill all of the civil toads, they'll be one important step closer to conquering the world.

Killing mechanics: There are three killing mechanics that some players are immune against, but not immune against the others.
  • Poison mushrooms: The killing tool of the Outlandish Toads.
  • Bullets: The Gunsmith's tool.
  • Haunts: Performed by the Ghost, and once in the game by the Boo Toad.
If a player dies at night, the way they died will be revealed. If they got safed, there will only be the message "an attempt was made on their life".

Goals: Common goals for Outlandish Toads and Civil Toads. The two third party toads cardflip the same, but have different winning conditions and they aren't a team.

--- Outlandish Toads --- 4 players

Devil Toad: The most prominent member of the Outlandish Toads. Can find out the exact role of a toad at night and will cardflip green himself upon inspection.
Wizard Toad: Can cast a spell on another toad. This toad will be silenced for the following day, they must not talk in the topic or through PM. If they are asked something, they can only reply "I'm under a spell".
Boo Toad: In addition to the collaborative kill, they can secretly haunt a player to death at night once through the game.
Cat-Suit Toad: A generic outlandish toad. Is immune to the Gunsmith Toad's attacks.

The Outlandish Toads will know each other and collaboratively decide to infect a player at night by throwing a poison mushroom into their stomach. If this player isn't immune, they'll die.

--- Civil Toads --- 12 players

Captain Toad: Leader of the fellow toads. Can inspect a player at night.
Mushroom-Selling Toad: Can give a mushroom to another toad at night, making them immune to poison mushrooms and bullets, but not to haunts. Can eat a mushroom himself once through the game.
Gunsmith Toad: Has a supply of 3 bullets they can use to shoot a toad. If they kill an innocent, they'll lose their remaining bullets.
Tanooki Toad: Can camouflage themselves as a statue in front of another Toad's house and will know everyone who visits this house (by player's names, not roles). Immune to being haunted.
Blue Toad: Is a wildcard. Upon the first death of a special toad, he'll take their role. If two or more blues die first at night, he can choose arbitrarily.

Green Toad: No special abilities.

Red Toad: Appears to be outlandish. For some reason they don't know themselves about being suspicious.

--- Third Party Toads --- 2 players

Skeleton Toad: An undead toad who doesn't take any parties. Just wishes to survive, wins with everyone. He can survive two night attacks before he's crumbling to dust and is immune to losing a life by being haunted.

Ghost: A desperate toad who committed suicide and his ghost will try to exterminate everyone for revenge. Can haunt one person at night. Once through the game, they can also choose to stay home to haunt everyone who visits them, except for the Tanooki Toad. Immune against everything but the Gunsmith's bullets. Must be the last player standing to win, obviously.

Do the Mushrooms from the Mushroom-selling Toad work like items or like a doc save? Also, does he have to say that he'll eat his mushroom or does it get activated when he gets attacked?

Looks good.

Patchouli Knowledge: Using her magic, she can prevent one person from going to Higan to be judged on where in the afterlife she will go.
Alice Margatroid: Up to four times in the entire game, can protect someone with a doll every night. (Phase shift notifies when they are destroyed.)

Just so the Gamemaster can participate in this mystery game.
The Afterlife: Role is done by the Game master, and as a result, there is no win condition. (Pseudo-dino or Spinda)
Shikieiki Yamaxanadu: When a player is knocked out, she can look into her mirror of the Yama to see their actions. If she can then decide to send their soul to Heaven, the Netherworld, or ****. If the yama send the person’s soul to the Netherworld, they will get one last lynch vote to use at any time. They can also instead petition to the yama to go to Heaven instead. If the soul is sent to Heaven, their win condition is get two other persons from their team in Heaven. (They also get a lynch vote.) If they do not get to go to either, then during the next phase shift, their name and who they were cosplaying as well be publicly announced as well their ability.

Moriya Shrine Gods: Outnumber “The Town”, and knockout the residents of the Chireiden(Palace of the Earth Spirits) mansion.
Kanako Yasaka: Can convince one person per night to help her cause. Immune to night kills.
Suwako Moriya: Once every other night, can protect Kanako Yasaka from a lynch vote by sacrificing herself.
Sanae Kochiya: Can check on any one person to learn who they are cosplaying as.

Other
Utsuho Reiuji: Choices a team at the start (Moriya Shrine Gods or Chireiden(Palace of the Earth Spirits) Mansion). Can kill any person once per night. If she kills her teammates), she can not use this ability for two nights.

Mechanics:
  • Mystery.
  • Pseudo-Faction.
  • Role & Color Flip
  • Karma.
    • Heaven: Free Ballot Box Lynch Vote/possible revival. (not public)
    • Netherworld: Free Ballot Box Lynch Vote, or plea for Heaven. (not public)
    • ****: Considered dead. Role Revealed, yata-yata-yata. (not public)
  • Screenshots permitted.
  • Expected to fake your role claim.
  • Newspaper.
  • Dawn-->Twilight (Night then Day)
    • Dawn and Twilight is the same as Night and Day respectively, just the time-frame that Shikieiki Yamaxanadu (cosplayed by the gamemaster) decides on the death’s fate. (not public)
Example Role PM:

Code: Select all

You have decided to cosplay as Flandre Scarlet. You can use your destructive ability to kill one person per night. Watch and do not kill your sister, <player> or you may lose your own head.Your goal is to take out the Shrine Maiden and her Cohearts. Your team mates are <Player>, <Player>, and <Player>.
[/strike]
Not meaning to be demanding or directing here, but if you're going to remove or modify a feature of your game, actually remove it instead of just putting in a thousand strike marks in your post, because it does get extremely confusing.

That was when it was a mystery game, which I removed. Also, is it not 8 versus 4 versus 3?

It's currently 8 vs. 3 vs. 3 plus one Amnesiac-like role. Both minor parties also antagonize against each other, and the townies all have abilities. In common Town of Salem with 15 people you usually have 9 town, 3 Mafia, 3 neutrals. I think this is just slightly unbalanced, if at all, so maybe just add another townie or slightly strengthen some roles of existing townies.

I would like to k ow what is unbalanced, this is still a copy from the mystery game where I removed a role and a few mechanics because they all tied around the game Master being able to participate. I need to change the second to last town role, so...

How do you define "bodyguard" for the angel?

I think so, yeah. The Necromancer gets his extra vote later and isn't green but gets an extra ability so it should be alright.
