Question for compatibility, how many dummy tiles do you use? (Blocks, NPC, BGO, Tiles, Scenery, Path, Level) in the episode of far?

Another level for the beta is finished.
Here is the faulty result:

It is inspired by the gears-level from the Mario Zone of SML2. It uses a single heavy event-chain (15 events all cluttered in 1 second) to make some of the vertical gears slowly moving down the player, without needing to resort to quicksand for that effect. Some of the side-ways gears are also moving the player to either the right or the left side (invisible conveyor belt), like it was in the original level of SML2.

Thank you. :-D
Making the level was rather easy compared to my newest one, so not much to say about it.
About the coins, the other tank level in my project also does not use coins, so I like to keep it consistent. Also, I am not a friend of using coins as scenery, as most people here like to do, so I rather like to refrain from that. :-)

Pretty much all of them, save for a very few. All paths are used, aswell as all worldmap-tiles except for 2. Scenery is used up to the 87th. Levels are occupied up to the 45th one. All BGOs and blocks are used, aswell as all NPCs (freezing platforms, heated blocks, scenery-NPC, and misc. other uses).

I would love to know how the quicksand esqué gimmick. I have an idea, but still. You would have to ask Hoeloe, Enjl, Horikawa Otane, and a few others for blocks, BGOs, and the like to turn them back into Dummy BGOs/Blocks. NPC 293 may be an issue though. I was advised against tiles past 328, but that may be fixed. Later. Level looks nice, I can not wait to see the world this is in.

I really like the screenshots and the custom graphics. The level design also looks nice/basic but that's not a bad thing. I am looking forward to seeing the full episode

That sentence is directed at the people who dislike my stuff. ^^ I for myself think that it turned out okay. After all, it makes fun to play and does look okay for me.

Yes, when I designed the level background, I really thought about the clock tower of the Castlevania-series too. :-P But it sure is way more forgiving than these areas from said games. xD

Thank you, as always. :-)
To be honest, the level would be located inside a gigantic statue, but in my project, it is the core of every single clock on the eastsun islands (even though, almost none of the gears are touching each other, so how a giant clockwork functions this way, is beyond my knowledge xD). About the mechanics, it's nothing huge, just some gimmick that emulates the one from the gameboy very accurately. If you wanna see what I mean, you can see the level Mario Zone 1 on Youtube. ^^
MECHDRAGON777 wrote:I would love to know how the quicksand esqué gimmick. I have an idea, but still.
Just 10 layers, 20 events, and some graphics but no quicksand. :-)

Please let us drop this topic, as so much in my project could be subject to change and it just does not make sense for me to think about it at this time.

I also like my levels to be more like explorative Mario and less be like puzzle maze or color switch block problems. If I have fun while testplaying my levels, then everything is fine for me. But if I do not have fun while playing them, then they get to have a free travel to the virtual wastebin. :-P
The full episode will still take a little while, but it will contain roughly 140 levels. Even the beta will contain 100 full levels already.

Just noticed on the screenshots how the background does look like Castlevania, and before I noticed that the image was split at a specific point, I though you made a mini-vacation code.

I don't think clash with the paintings need to be a concern.

I assume that would go well too, but I like to keep the theme in. It depicts what I like most, and it is something different too, in my opinion. ^^
But I agree somewhat about the paintings since long. They are a very old graphic and these days they are rather placeholders for a new graphic I will design for them in the future. They will become either Bishoujo Coins or a new updated kind of picture.

They are really old, so maybe he also dislikes them because of the old design. But the heavy point of my project is the gameplay anyways, not the graphics, even though, it may look like it is the other way around. ^^

That looks pretty fucking dope actually. One thing though, don't you think the gears look sort of... square-ish? The shading makes the middle look like a flat surface with gear teeth. Not like a curved cylindrical surface. Otherwise it looks fucking neat though.
