this is a hotly debated topic, but i believe for sure luigi is marios little brother. this is because studies show that the younger boys in a family are less masculine than the first born, and this is definitely the case for mario and luigi.

Luigi is the younger brother. They are also twins. Iwata calls them twins in this nintendo direct.
Also, on page 5 of the Yoshi's Island Instruction Manual, Mario and Luigi are referred to as twins. This makes sense, since they were both babies being delivered at the same time.

When official sources claim Luigi is Mario's brother, it's true; he is the younger of the two twins. Probably by a few minutes or hours. They are probably also fraternal twins, since they don't look identical.
There is no evidence indicating they are not twins. There are several official sources indicating they are twins. The answer is pretty obvious.

I say Luigi is Mario's little brother... I happen to know the lore of Super Mario tbh.

I always thought that Luigi is Mario's little brother, but in yoshi's island they are delivered at the same time, which means they're twins... So I'm gonna say both.

They're twins, but Mario was very likely born first. The stork in Yoshi's Island, the game that's widely accepted as the first game chronologically, is carrying them together.

If the Nintendo direct I linked to and the instruction manual I linked to are both fabrications of my mind, then yes.

They're twins and Mario is the older brother, although with twins that's just a technicality. And their heights are irrelevant to their birth order; my brother, who is four years younger, is slightly taller than me.
