~ THE GREAT CASTLE ADVENTURE REMAKE ~ A project by Linik and DarkDragon94.
Before you question this for copyright and stealing off krazykoopa, he gave me permission to do this.
So yeah, got totally bored, and this idea flew into my head after I played through one of my favourite episodes, TGCA, again, for the first time in forever (Frozen references ftw!) and since I now have nothing to do at the moment, I have taken it into my hands to remake this classic episode. It is still going to remain true to the original TGCA and it's going to incorporate all the same levels from that, and the same plotline involving collecting stars but it will incorporate all the new elements that didn't exist back in 1.1.2, such as custom graphics, different player characters and modified NPCs using NPC codes. All the levels will retain their themes from the original episode but will be different to accommodate the new features. More stars and levels will be added as well, and some levels will be revamped completely, such as the hub.
There is also a special surprise revealed after all the stars have been collected! Please do not spoil it!
(In case you're wondering, krazykat did a trailer for this before I took over)

Wait a second, this post has been without replies since august? This looks amazing. It doesn't look like the original TGCA but if it includes lua, I'll say this is pretty interesting.

Thanks! And as for it not looking like the original, that's intended, because the levels still play out like the originals. Castle of Despair, for example, was originally a flat level that was just wave after wave of Zelda II enemies, and now it's styled like a palace from that game, complete with a Link filter. However, it still retains the dead Peach, references to the battle in the Cave Waves level, and boss battle against Zelda II enemies at the end, except you're fighting SMB1 Bowser instead of Birdo because Birdo would be too easy with Link. If all of the levels looked similar to the originals then it would be a remaster, and this is a remake. I'm not really a LunaLua kind of person either, but there might be the odd one or two levels in there that makes use of it.

I thought the thread seemed dead. But the project never was dead.
Anyway, good luck with the remake.

Yes, now I saw the trailer, and the original TGCA, looked pretty primitive, but if it is that classic, then it surely needs a heavy remake.
About the Zelda level: SMB1 Bowser? Hell yeah, I always tought that SMB1 bowser is the perfect rival for Link, you must be pretty close to stab him with the sword but not as far so you don't get hit by the hammers. You must be very careful when you attack, because you need to block the fire bowser spits at you, it almost feels like you are playing Punch out or something.
Wait, now you got bounced to the top of the treads, awesome.

As of this point, I don't know how many levels I'm going to include in it, even though the rule states you need 20% in screenshots, not explicitly 10. But judging by the screenshots, it is definitely over 20% complete. Another level is in the works and will be showcased as a screenshot when ready.

Yup, the test levels will be completely 8-bit. Also, they'll be arranged differently in the remake considering that 1.1.2 had limited tiles to work with: Test #1 and Test #2 is still the original 1-1 and 1-2 from SMB, but Test #3 and Test #4 will be world 1-1 and 2-1 from SMB2 respectively (in the original, Test #3 and Test #4 were 3-1 and 8-1 from SMB), and the latter will have the quicksand that the original lacked. While Test #5 and Test #6 were 1-1 and 2-1 in SMB2 in the original, here they will be 1-1 and 1-2 from SMB3 instead to accommodate for this.

If you've been keeping up with stuff, you may have realised that this hasn't been updated in a while. Don't worry though, I'm still working on it - it's just that real life and other commitments are starting to get in the way! If you're still not convinced, I've made a custom launcher page for this episode, detailing stuff about the episode and some of the new features:
Thanks for the feedback! Coding up the page was quite easy and enjoyable to be honest, because I'm doing a module in website development as part of my course. However, it's only just a first draft - it'll probably be updated in the future, so expect better!
