I'm brasilian and I'm not watching the olimpic games in my country.

Are you watching?

IMO this is evil, because my country is veryyyyy poor, there's no money being invested in health services, education, transport etc. And they are wasting with useless olimpic games.

What is your opinion?

Couldn't care less about the Olympics. IMO there's a lot more stuff Brazilians should be worrying about considering the deplorable state of our politics.

Tensions are still high. You might not be hearing so much about revolts but there is still a lot of outrage from Brazilians.

The poor weather conditions and discovery of super bacteria as well as algae in the diving and water polo pools are making things awful.

The only things I care about are football, handball and tennis.

I sometimes watch the Olimpics and this for sure is a amazing treat going on. Wonder what'll happen in the future stuff relative to that...

I just wonder how people can even perform there... I mean so many terrible things happened, but people still play their sport there. That's pretty amazing.

The founding motives of the Olympics were honorable, but its become a commercialized spectacle like any other professional sport. Its also political theater to a major extent, Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union used it to promote their ideologies and young athletes in China endure harsh training and often ruin their lives because their government strongly promotes rigorous athletic training to boost the nations image abroad.

The toll taken on host cities is quite severe, especially in Beijing where hundreds of thousands were evicted to clear space for Olympic infrastructure that is now decaying. Of course, the Chinese government was responsible for that, but the IOC could have chosen to withhold the games from China for human rights abuses, but the games are heavily politicized and of course there's too much money at stake to stand up to tyranny.

Over 2000 families have lost their homes to open way for Olympics constructions.

Have fun watching the games!
