M31 - Host Signups (Poll now available!)

Postby Julia Pseudo » Tue Jul 19, 2016 6:19 pm

Mafia 31

We're looking for your quality mafia hosting skills and your quality mafia games for our next game!

You've seen Mafia.
You've played Mafia.
Now, it might just be your time to host some Mafia!

Sorry to me, but I will not be hosting. :(

How do I apply?
All you need to do is post your game suggestion in this topic!
However, you must have participated in at least one mafia game in order to host a game.

After you have posted, your two Game Masters, Spinda and I (there's FallingSnow too but he doesn't show up that often), will edit your post and respond in green at the bottom if we approve.
If we have comments or changes that we recommend, we will edit in red.
Optional suggestions may be in yellow or orange.

Tips to Remember:
Each user may only submit one game, so choose wisely!
Your game should contain around 13-18 players (a little lower than usual, due to current interest).
Have about 1 mafia member for each 4/5 townies.
Your game doesn't need to be overly complex to be fun and interesting. Sometimes a good combination of roles can produce a better result.
Don't try to go overboard with the custom roles! You don't need to change the entire theme of your game for it to be interesting.

Ready for Mafia?
Think up some ideas!

M31 - A New Terror, Z-Fighters Unite! - 18 Players, 3 Mafia, 13 town, 2 third party.

Some notes:
-Changed Gohans power back to original.
-Added Gohans ability to block Cells regeneration, making Gohan more useful and needed.
-Cells regeneration allows Cell to come back to life after death once in the game.
-Raditz and Nappa are a team, and arent as strong without each other, thus Nappa or Raditz will lose their immunity if the other dies.
-Normal win conditions, Mafia wins if it equals or outnumbers the town, Third Party wins if they are the last standing and Town wins if all Third Party and Mafia are dead.
-Added Krillin
-Senzu Beans are an item that fully restores stamina, as such instead of a regular doctor use, when a player is given a bean they will be notified, and asked if they wish to use it for the following night. It can only be used once and only for the following night so you will need another if you dont use it. They are also given out in the Day phase, instead of a Night phase save.

The Villians

Frieza - The 'Strongest in the Universe.' Given his nature of Planet salesman, he can talk a Z-Fighter into working for him for one day controling their lynch vote.

Cell - The 'Ultimate Lifeform.' Cell is infused with the cells of all the Z Fighters, namely known for Piccolo's regeneration. This allows Cell to regenerate once in the game.

Majin Buu - The 'Sweettooth Terror.' Majin Buu loves candy, and can absorb powers through eating. This allows Majin Buu to gain one ability of a target killed within the last night by the Villians.

The Z Fighters

Goku - The 'Hero of the Universe.' Goku is a clumsy Saiyan and always loves to test his abilities. As the leader of the Z Fighters he can use his Instant Transmission to reveal a players color each night. Knows who Gohan is.

Gohan - The 'Gentle Son.' Gohan hates to hurt others, but will if provoked. Because of this he cannot lynch unless Goku is dead. As long as Gohan is alive, he will also passively block Cells regeneration. Knows who Goku is.

Vegeta - The 'Prince of all Saiyans.' Vegeta is very prideful, and he gets angry very easily. Because of this Vegeta does not care and can nightkill. Will be rolecalled if an innocent dies by his hand.

Piccolo - The 'Namekian Brilliance.' Piccolo was once an enemy of Goku but has come to befriend him. He can train a Z-Fighter each night to make their lynch votes count for two. Does not effect Rebellious Saiyans or Villians.

Krillin - The 'Weakest Link.' Krillin is Gokus best friend, and once was stronger than him. Until everything out matched him. Krillin has the ability to give a player a Senzu Bean each day, allowing the player to block a nightkill the following night.

Z-Fighter - Nothing special about this guy, he's just another Z-Fighter.
Z-Fighter
Z-Fighter
Z-Fighter
Z-Fighter
Z-Fighter
Corrupted Z-Fighter - A corrupted Z-Fighter. He is more easily pursuaded by Frieza and in turn gives Frieza an extra lynch vote. Does not know they are corrupted.
Corrupted Z-Fighter

The Rebellious Saiyans

Raditz - The 'Long-haired Scout.' Raditz is the weakest Saiyan, but also the first threat to Goku. He works with Nappa to optionally kill someone each night. Immune to lynchings.

Nappa - The 'Best in the Business.' Nappa is a ruthless Saiyan soldier, he came to earth with Vegeta until he betrayed him. Works with Raditz to optionally kill someone each night. Immune to nightkills.

First! Lets hope I win, I really wanna host for once.

Here's mine. It's pretty much a resubmission with a few small clarifications and changes. This game did the best of ever done in a poll, so hopefully I'll strike gold this time since I think I'd be a great host:

M __: Nuclear Politics
(16 Players / Cardflip)

After a tragic uranium incident in the Town, different groups have formed to try to take power; but their way of getting there isn't so good. The side effects of the melt-down are also causing unwarranted effects.

The Greed Group
Oligarchist: The leader of the Greed Group. His Lynch vote counts as 2 and he is immune to Nightkills. Can collaboratively choose a player to kill with their teammates each Night.
Tax Collector: The much hated man of the town. They can charge a person an immense amount of money each Night, making them unable to use their ability the next Night. Can collaboratively choose a player to kill with their teammates each Night.
Vile Cop: A cop turned bad. They can throw a person in jail each Night making them unable to speak the next Day. Can collaboratively choose a player to kill with their teammates each Night.

The Clever Group
Scribe: The very knowledgeable leader of the Clever Group. They can paint themself any colour each Night (red, blue, purple, or green). That colour will last until the end of the next Day phase. Can collaboratively choose a player to kill with their teammates each Night.
Trickster: The tricky member of the Town who never plays by the rules. They can choose a player each Night; that player's Lynch vote will count as -1 the following day period if they vote. (This isn't -1 subtracted from their normal Lynch vote power.) Can collaboratively choose a player to kill with their teammates each Night.
Rad Radiation Guy: A maniac crazed by extended exposure to some poisonous gases from one of their experiments. Can visit a player each Night, exposing them to the radiation he is stuck with. By RNG, that player will: have nothing happen to them (10%), have their Lynch Vote count as 0 for the next Day Phase 40%), have their Cardflip colour become Red (20%), have their Cardflip colour become Purple (20%), or will be killed (10%). Can collaboratively choose a player to kill with their teammates each Night.

The Town
Sheriff: Can inspect a player to find out their colour each Night.
Security Engineer: Can safeguard a player each Night from a Nightkill, but not from an ability.
Chemist: Can safeguard a player each Night from an ability used against them (cannot be themselves), but not a Nightkill. Immune to the ability of the Rad Radiation Guy.
Chemist's Assistant: Immune to the ability of the Rad Radiation Guy.
Narcissist: Is strongly convinced that they're special, but they have no special abilities. (Still cardflips blue and counts as one, but technically has the same role as a Townie.)
Townie
Townie
Townie
Townie
History Fanatic: Knows their identity as the History Fanatic.

Game Mechanics
Cardflip: The colour of players will be revealed upon death, but not the true colour if their colour was changed by an ability.
Greed Group/Clever Group Win Conditions: Must be the last group remaining standing and must outnumber the alive Town members.
Town Win Conditions: Avoid being taken over by the uprising groups. Wins if there are no more members of Groups alive.
Pseudo-dino wrote:I'm not personally a fan of the RNG on the nuclear aftermath,
but it's a great-looking game otherwise
edit: thanks
Spinda wrote:Please don't do RNG in a way that affects the game this much. Maybe make a TP that can control which players are affected?

The Wizard of Darkness

Cardflip
19 Players
Role Usage is optional
Each night, 5 random players have the ability to visit someone

The Dark Wizard & Cursed Mythical Creatures

Dark Wizard: Can choose what color they flip as at the beginning of the game, and they are also immune to nightkills.
Basilisk: Three times throughout the game, it can kill anyone that visits them.
This ability however will get nullified if the visiter has a mirror.
Black Dragon: Can take someone to their cave every night phase, disabling their ability that night phase, and also destroying any items they have.
Red Slime: Can trap someone inside their slimy form each night, silencing them for the next day phase

The Good Wizards & Good Mythical Creatures

Forensics Wizard: Can find out the color of someone each night
White Dragon: Can protect someone during the night phase, and if that player is targeted, they’ll die instead.
Mirror Wizard: Can give someone a mirror every night.
Orb Wizard: Can give someone a X2 Orb every 2 nights to make their lynch votes permanently count as 2 unless destroyed by the Black Dragon.

The Witch wins if the dark wizard and all its allies and specials are dead.

Spoiler: show
Mirror
If you have this item, if you visit the basilisk, you won’t die.

X2 Orb
If your given this item, your lynch votes will count as two, unless it’s destroyed by the Black Dragon

EDIT:
Changelog:

- added 2 more players
- added 2 slime roles, one for town, one for mafia
- added the witch win condtion
- changed the dragon duo to dragon trio

Changelog 2:

- reverted the dragon trio back to dragon duo
- removed the revival potion
- switched the cooldowns for the mirror wizard and orb wizard
Pseudo-dino wrote:Seems good overall,
but I would use standard visiting mechanics instead of 5 random players, that kind of randomness is not very good and the roles seem well balanced otherwise
Spinda wrote:I don't like the counter to the Basilisk depending entirely on one other role, so if the Mirror Wizard dies the Basilisk can't be countered.

Midnight on the Docks
16 players
Cardflip
Town wins if all the werewolves and The Stranger are killed.
Werewolves win if the number of surviving town members equals or is less than the number of surviving werewolves.
The Stranger wins if all of the werewolves and all of the specials are killed.
Lynch votes must be in red. Bolding is optional but highly recommended.

Werewolves
Werewolf: Decides with the other Werewolves on who to kill each night.
Werewolf: Decides with the other Werewolves on who to kill each night.
Half-Lycanthrope: Decides with the other Werewolves on who to kill each night. Cardflips green when inspected or killed. During each Night phase, the Half-Lycanthrope may choose one of two things that will happen when he would die during the night. Once he chooses one of these abilities, he may not change which one he can use until the next Night phase.
1. He saves himself and becomes a regular Werewolf, cardflipping red upon inspection and death and losing all other special abilities.
2. When he chooses this ability, he must also pick a player. That player will die when the Half-Lycanthrope dies.

Town
Seer: May inspect a player each night, revealing their color to the Seer.
Acolyte: Acts as a normal Townsfolk, but becomes the Seer when the current Seer dies.
Priest: May save a player from death each night.
Huntsman: May kill a player once per night. If he kills a Town member, he loses his power for the following night.

Townsfolk: Can vote to lynch a player each day.
Townsfolk: Can vote to lynch a player each day.
Townsfolk: Can vote to lynch a player each day.
Madman: Acts as a normal Townsfolk, but cardflips red upon inspection and death. Is aware that they're the Madman.

Third Party
The Stranger: Can kill a player once per night. Alongside being able to kill a player, he may choose one of three abilities each night. Once he chooses one of these abilities, he may not change which one he can use until the next Night phase.
1. He can paint himself green for the Day phase. This paint wears off the next Night phase.
2. He can place a mysterious ward on himself. If he would die during this Night phase, he may save himself.
3. Once throughout the entire game he may use this ability, invoking the anger of the Old Gods and crashing a wave into the village. This ability roleblocks every single player (not including The Stranger), and kills off a player chosen at random (this can also include The Stranger). Once this ability is used, The Stranger cannot make a kill during the following Night phase, although he can still use one of his other two abilities.[/quote]

M31: Patient 0

A werewolf-esc game meant for just 10 players.

Roles:

Evil Roles:
Patient 0: This person has been infected by a strange variant of mind control virus that allows him to infect people and have them do his bidding. He can infect two person throughout the whole game, causing them to switch to his side, at the cost of his life. He can also kill each night (except for the night in which he infected a target) and is immune to being nightkilled and cured.
The Infected: This role does not exist from the start, but rather spawns from a good role becoming infected. The infected can infect two other people at the cost of their life as well, and they keep whatever abilities they had before their infection, but their color changes to red upon infection.
Winning Conditions: All good roles must either be infected or dead.

Good Roles:
Scientist: A well-respected member of the community that has the ability to check if a person is infected or not each night (does not discern their role or color).
Pharmacist: Another likable member of the town that can cure a person of infection, should they be infected. Cannot cure himself if he gets infected.
Vigilante: Can kill a person each night. Loses his ability for 1 night if he kills someone who isn't infected.
Sheriff: Can inspect a person each night to learn their color.
Townsperson: Has no special abilities
Townsperson:
Townsperson:
Townsperson:
Immune Townsperson: A townsperson that is somehow immune to the infection, but comes up infected to the scientist and red to the sheriff. Doesn't know they're the immune townsperson.
Winning Conditions: Patient 0 must die, and all infected must either be dead or cured.

Other Notes:

Infected people do NOT learn about other infected people's roles upon infection.
Lynching is normal and nobody knows who anybody else is.
Infected people can only do one action per night. They can't infect two people at once or infect one person and kill another. Only one action per night.

If I'm not mistaken, there's only one infected person alive at any time, right? As such, if either the Pharmacist or the Vigilante target an Infected, the town wins. As such, the Vigilante is literally just a worse Pharmacist because if he chooses poorly he kills an innocent person and loses his ability for 1 night. The only difference is that an infected Vigi is still useful to the evil roles. Maybe balance that a bit better?

Perhaps assign that ability to a role (probably as a third party), instead of occurring randomly? I'm not forcing you to remove it in any case though.

I guess I could add a Third Party. I'm aware that I'm not required to change anything, I just want to make it as good as it can be.

EDIT: Nm. Just noticed Spinda's comment and it looks like I ain't got a choice here

What would you recommend to fix that?

M31: Spooky Scary Vampires
  • Game Starts on a night
  • 14 Players
In a spooky mansion in Transylvania, the owners (which are also vampires) invited a bunch of people, claiming that they can win this mansion! However, now all of them are trapped inside the mansion and the visitors have to kill off all the blood-thirsty vampires while also watching out for their own blood. And to add to that, a Zombie got into the mansion as well somehow, and he won't stop until everyone else is dead!

Blood Mechanic:
  • Players start with 100 Blood unless specified otherwise
  • If 25 Blood or less: Vote doesn't count
  • If 0 Blood or less: Death (unless specified otherwise)
  • Vampires only destroy a player's blood, don't consume it
  • Every player gets notified about by how much their amount of Blood changed at the start of every day

Vampires

Head Vampire: Can visit a player every night to find out his role. Can suck 25 Blood from a player every night. Has an infinite supply of Blood.
Female Vampire: Can hook a player every night, stopping them from using their role or any of their items. Can suck 50 Blood from a player every night.
Newbie Vampire: Appears as a Human upon Cardflip or Inspection. Can suck 25 Blood from a player every night.

Each vampire can visist a player at night to find out the amount of Blood they have left at the end of the night.

The mafia can't kill players regularly.

Win if they outnumber the humans with more than 25 Blood and the Zombie is dead.

Humans

Inspector: Can inspect a player every night, after which he gets to know their color.
Nurse: Can inject 50 Blood to a player every night, but can't give a player more than their amount of Blood at the start. If a player were to die that night, they would still survive with 50 Blood.
Salesman: Can either give a player an Injection Needle or a knife. He has to give out a different item to a different target than the previous night.
Mansion Lookout: Can watch a player every night and find out who visited them. In case multiple Vampires visited that person, he only sees the lowest-ranked Vampire (Newbie Vampire < Female Vampire < Head Vampire).
Healthy Visitor: Starts with 150 Blood. Thinks he is a normal Visitor.
Mansion Visitor: No special powers.
Mansion Visitor
Mansion Visitor
Mansion Visitor
Skeleton Visitor: Starts with 0 Blood. Can't gain Blood. Can't die of Blood loss, but still dies to a knife. Thinks he is a normal visitor.

Win if the Vampires and the Zombie are dead.

Third Party

Zombie: If anyone tries to take Blood from him, they lose the same amount of Blood as well. The effect of Injection Needles gets neutralised. Has an infinite supply of knives. Starts with 150 Blood. WIns if he is the last player remaining.

Wins if the Vampires and all Humans are dead.

Items:

Injection Needle: Allows the player holding it to take 25 Blood from another player and get that amount of Blood. Can't steal more than the remaining amount of Blood that player has left and can't gain more than their maximum amount of Blood.
Knife: Makes the target bleed 75 Blood.

Priorities
  1. Female Vampire (Hook)
  2. Salesman
  3. Injection Needle
  4. Newbie Vampire
  5. Female Vampire (Blood Sucking)
  6. Head Vampire
  7. Knife
  8. Nurse
  9. Inspector
  10. Vampires' Blood check
(This is kind of a resubmission but kinda different and it's been over a year since I originally submitted it)
Pseudo-dino wrote:cool concept, approved, but could you clarify something:
do the vampires conspire to kill someone every night? I assume not based on the biting abilities but since they're the mafia it's not 100% clear
also, Female Vampire is listed twice on the priority list

What do you want me to do then? Would you prefer for there to not be a way to counter the basilisk?

Nah, that'd be OP. Maybe make it so it only kills them the first like 2 times?

You could also make it do something else instead of killing them, like for example making them unable to talk the next phase.

I made it so Patient 0 and The Infected can infect TWO people before death instead of one (but they can still only perform one action per night). That way, they have more of a chance.

Maybe make it so Patient 0 can infect 2 ppl at once and keep everything else the same? Your suggestion would make them replicate pretty quickly.
