A Contest forum. I mean just look at this:
The general forum is just FILLED with user-hosted contests. At this point, it deserves its own category. I could hardly find topics like "Level theme suggestion thread" without searching through the mass amount of contest threads.

Some them aren't even serious or real contests, but you still have a point.

What's with the sudden splurge in fake contests anyway?

Yeah, it could be broken off for the people that actually participate in that shit and leave room for actual discussion topics.
I support this.

yeah that's pretty true. I mean thethwompking holds a lot of contests, so it would be good for him. Plus there are other contests too.

I don't think we need a forum just for contests. We really don't need to promote the making of unofficial contests since first of all, a large number of them are awful (poor rules, not always predetermined or even good judge panels, etc.), and second of all, there's a good chance more contests will be flops, since there's a good chance that people would spread out more and each contest would get less activity

Maybe make a Contest rules sticky for quality control?

I think AT LEAST this should be made.

Most of them aren't flops as the ones that are don't use rules based off of the official contest rules. They usually don't include more than maybe 5 people but there's nothing wrong with that. And that second point is completely nullified by users like Camacho and Mechdragon that participate in every other contest in the forum.
Besides, most of them awful, not predetermined, not good judge panels, most are flops and end up being ignored? I don't know about you but that sounds exactly like our entire levels forum as a whole.

I would personally prefer having level judges just moderate contest threads as a whole and have an overview over the number of active contests at a time but that idea got shot down in the past so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

They're doing a great job moderating level threads. Naturally they should be competent enough to actively manage contest threads.

You really think that'll work? We have rules threads in Projects and Levels and people still don't post screenshots. How would this be any different? I think we should maybe have a Contest Rules thread in General and see how that goes first, before getting to creating a whole new forum for them, which really seems like too big of a step. The biggest error that people seem to be making when formulating requests is that they ask for changes that are so big that they'll be looked down upon by other Traditionalist users, Mods, and Admins. If we started with a Contest Rules thread, then maybe something bigger could stem from that.
What I would suggest is probably the most agreeable option between everyone is to have an Unofficial Contests thread, that contains rules and is an index to the current contests including name, creator, and due date. Contests that don't follow the rules can be locked.
One more thing, would this proposed Contests forum include only level contests or others too (art, music, etc.)?

It would be better than nothing. I don't think the General forum needs another sticky so that would have to be cleaned up first if contests absolutely had to stay in the General forum.
They should just be contained in their own forum with some oversight in a case by case basis.

I think it all started with The Thwomp King hosting his monthly contests back in October (I think?), which revolve around a specific theme, such as an underground level contest one month, followed by a snow level contest the next month. I guess people were inspired by him and started making their own contests (me included), thus leading to a sudden growth in contests.
But I support this. It'll help clean up the General forum and stop the contest threads from taking up the whole of page 1 and causing some of the "discussion" threads to fall off page 1.

FYI TTK's contests starts at July 2015 (bramble level).
Also yeah we need "Level Contests" subforum.

Unless there are many active level judges, there is no problem with that.

I also second this together with a sticky containing rules (and hoping that the staff / LJs will enforce that not too many contests are happening at the same time). Also this kind of joke contests ("The submitless contest") just become plain dumb quickly - the OP was hilarious to read but now it's just turning into a shitposting festival.
Also, do the first six CCs still exist somewhere (or their results at least)?

I am also curious about it. Since I only see CC7-CC11 results in the Archives Forum

Thanks, Camacho! I've finally found them. Anyways, do the CCs are in the General Forum too?
