Just a random level that I made, it has 2 sections, the first one is a SMB1 styled cave, the second is a mini water area.

Oh my God.
To be honest, this level looks terrible.
The entire first section is linearly constructed.
Scenery either does not exist or is present in small quantities with cut-offs.
I was most disappointed on the second section, where the water is not set.
I wonder if you tested this level, or rather you have built it in half an hour.

I'm sorry, but you'll get from me ... 2/10?

Just to point out some things in your...review?
  • Linearity isn't a bad thing. Definitely not. There are levels in The Best that are linear and the episode I'm currently working on is mostly of such design.
  • In SMB1 NES the caves did have very few background objects. Not saying that this will always look good, but just wanted to put this out there.
  • Insulting people and using the tone you presented your review with isn't a great idea when giving feedback, because some people may feel insulted if you start your reviews in this fashion.
  • Water doesn't always have to be swimmable.

I 'm sorry if I rated level too "aggressive." Next time I'll try to use less offensive phrases.

By the way, the lack of water in the second section caused it impossible to finish.
I suppose, that certainly would be underwater section.

If you're under this impression you should look into what's wrong with the level and try to improve it, rather than posting it in its flawed state, knowing you could've made it better.

After playing through this, I have to agree that this is far from an interesting level. It's not the worst I've seen, but it's just overall pretty bland and boring.
The first half heavily reminds me of overworld segments in Super Mario Bros 1 and World. The only thing which gives me the illusion of this taking place in a cave is the lava which you introduce in the second half of the first section. In fact I think the Mario World Grass tileset suits this level better:

(I have removed the lava because it's essentially a pit)
Aside from that, I found that one of your stalagmites replaces the SMB3 bush bgo. While playing, it gets cut-off, looking like a small rock floating in midair. It's not possible to resize background objects and I recommend replacing background-10.gif instead.

The 2nd half shakes the level up completely, however it lacks any substance. Fish and coins seem to be placed randomly, creating little to no challenge. Seeing as this section tries to resemble underwater segments from Mario World, I recommend checking out how water segments in that game played and thinking about how to translate them into SMBX.
Lastly, I wish the fetch quest for the key didn't exist. It's completely pointless and does nothing but drag the level on without adding anything. You give the player a flower at the start of the section, so you could assume they took out all the fish in their way. I think a standard goal tape instead of the key would've been much better.

Moved to trash can.
