So my rig was built just a couple months ago and has had a couple issues here and there, but nothing like what had just happened.

Basically I was spectating Dota, alt-tabbing through various other pages (what i normally do), and suddenly my display driver crashes and recovers. Okay, no problem.
Next thing I know all the hardware in the computer shuts off except for a couple lights on the mobo and the "ON" button. I tried to play Overwatch a bit later, but my monitor (or rather, a TV) went into "Unsupported mode" and flickered black (not instantly, but maybe 20 minutes after playing)

For the past couple weeks (ever since i installed a new HDD, at least) my computer has been running hotter, so I don't know if this has anything to do with it.
Any help would be appreciated.

-M5 A99FX Motherboard
-MSI GTX 960 Gfx Card
-16 GB (8x2) DDR3 RAM
-2 HDDs
-1 SSD
-600w PSU
-1 optical drive
-AMD FX 8350 Processor
-Hyper T4 cooling fan for the processor
-Case fan pointed towards the GFX card

Happened again with Overwatch. I don't know what could be causing this.

Your PSU might not be powerful enough. Check to see if your fans are actually running, and if they seem slow, I would suggest upgrading to a higher power unit or increasing the speed of your fans. If you have 2 HDDs and and SDD, that might be the case. Make sure you also have a fan that circulates the air out of your PC, it's one thing having a fan blow air onto your PC, but make sure you have one that helps circulate the air out.

Again though, definitely check your PSU.

It's not easy to diagnose a problem from cyberspace, but if it's been getting hotter since you installed a new HDD, that very well could be the cause. If the new HDD has different physical dimensions or different materials, or perhaps if it's just an HDD that produces more heat than the previous one, it could cause your cooling system to not work as well. Usually, components are designed to instantly shut off if they reach a critical temperature to avoid damage. If that happens to the CPU or power supply, then everything is going to shut off.

But this is all speculation. To find out for sure, you should do some tests. First of all, install a program that shows your temperatures (I don't know what it would be for Windows, but I'm sure one probably exists) and see what the temperatures are getting to. Second of all, if components are reaching critical temperature, see whether or not removing that new hard drive has any effect on that.

If it's not the temperature, then it's back to the drawing board. You'll just need to keep experimenting until you pin down what the cause of your problem is.

My GFX card failed, so I'm going to have it replaced via MSI hopefully. I'll invest in a new PSU asap though.
