It's been a long wait, but here we are!

Mafia 30


We're looking for your quality mafia hosting skills and your quality mafia games for our next game!

You've seen Mafia.
You've played Mafia.
Now, it might just be your time to host some Mafia!

Sorry to Nien, but he will not be hosting. :(


How do I apply?
All you need to do is post your game suggestion in this topic!
However, you must have participated in at least one mafia game in order to host a game.

After you have posted, your two Game Masters, Spinda and I (there's FallingSnow too but he doesn't show up that often), will edit your post and respond in green at the bottom if we approve.
If we have comments or changes that we recommend, we will edit in red.
Optional suggestions may be in yellow or orange.


Tips to Remember:
Each user may only submit one game, so choose wisely!
Your game should contain around 15-20 players.
Have about 1 mafia member for each 4/5 townies.
Your game doesn't need to be overly complex to be fun and interesting. Sometimes a good combination of roles can produce a better result.
Don't try to go overboard with the custom roles! You don't need to change the entire theme of your game for it to be interesting.

  • When Inspecting a Teammate, will appear the team color, but if inspected by someone of the wrong team, will be colored default (same for nightkills and lynches.)
  • Role Roulette: Every one's role will switch based off of a dice! Automatic first night, and with an Yukari Yakumo.

  • If a "Knife-in-the-box" happens, there will be a lynching the following night for the head of each Faction. (These five vote on the users that tie in a Ballot Box)
  • No one knows who anyone else is unless otherwise stated

M30: S.L.U.D.G.E.
(Cardflip / 16 Players)

The company S.L.U.D.G.E. is producing large amounts of toxic waste and biohazard weapons to use against the Town. Can they be stopped?

S.L.U.D.G.E.
Normal Mafia win conditions + kill or become allies with the Delusionist.
President: Elected to the presidential position by the other members S.L.U.D.G.E. due to their cunning nature but seen to the Town as nothing more than a normal, well-respected businessperson. They are the leader of the group and can also collaborate with their S.L.U.D.G.E. cohorts to kill a player each Night.
Biohazard Specialist: They can poison a player each Night, changing their colour for the following Day phase into either Red, Orange, Blue, or Green. They can also collaborate with their S.L.U.D.G.E. cohorts to kill a player each Night.
Head Janitor: A member of the S.L.U.D.G.E janitorial staff. They can abduct a player and lock them in the janitorial closet each Night, making them silenced for that time and unable to use their ability if they have one. They can also collaborate with their S.L.U.D.G.E. cohorts to kill a player each Night.

The Town
Normal Town win conditions + kill or become allies with the Delusionist.
Head of Defence: Can choose a player each Night. They will be able to see all messages sent by and received by their target for the duration of that Night.
Hacker Guy: Some random loner who can post an anonymous message at the end of each Night.
Dilution Specialist: A scientist who can safeguard a player each Night, making them immune to Nightkills made by S.L.U.D.G.E.
Forensics Ninja: A knowledgeable scientist who can inspect a dead player to find out their role or kill a player each Night. If they kill a member of the Town, they will be unable to use either of their abilities during the next two Night phases.
Narcissist: A self-obsessed individual who believes they're special. Although they cardflip Blue, they don't have any special abilities.
Strong-willed Townie: Their lynch vote counts as 2 instead of 1.

The Third Party
Wins if they are the last player standing, unless they are hit by an ability in which case it changes.
Delusionist: A retired member of S.L.U.D.G.E. that even now is unknown of his allies and somewhat mentally unstable. They join whichever team (and gain their Win Condition) that uses an ability on him first. If the Mafia uses an ability on them they will learn the identities of S.L.U.D.G.E. and be able to collaborate with their S.L.U.D.G.E. cohorts to kill a player each Night. If a member of the Town uses an ability on them, nothing happens other than a change in Win Condition. Furthermore, if they have two or more abilities used on them on the same Night phase, they will go mad, die, and kill those players who used the abilities on them too. (This does not include Nightkills.)

When that player dies, the current owner of the will inherits that player's abilities and color the next phase, but it will not make them switch teams, nor instantly gain the knowledge of the members of the team the person stated in the will is on. Cannot be given to the player stated in the will
Ski Mask - Allows the owner to steal items from other players at night. Attempting to steal items from a player with no items wastes the ability
Cereal - If the owner of this item survives the entire game, they get the Play of the Game (but seriously Overwatch is fucking garbage)

Dictator: Always protected by guards; can go into super paranoid mode twice throughout the whole game to kill anyone who visits him that night. (details below)
Military Man: Can beat someone up each night to make them cardflip black until the next night.
Propagandist: Can set one message to be displayed to the whole game in the phase transition message each night. (details below)
Doublespeaker: Can fake a lynch vote by sending the host a PM with their real lynch vote. Votes in the thread will not be counted.
The group conspires to kill one player each night and all members have contact with each other. They win if they eliminate the terrorist militant guy and equal or outnumber the Rebel Alliance.

Goodguy Politician: The only honest politician left in the nation, s/he still has old connections that s/he can use to inspect one player each night and learn their cardflip color.
Commando: Can kill one player each night. Loses ability for one night if s/he kills a townsperson.

Dictator: Retaliation against visitors is considered a night kill - if the Rebel Medic protects the Commando who visits the paranoid Dictator, the Commando will not die. Abilities still work against a paranoid Dictator.
Conspiracy Theorist/Propagandist: Plain text only; it will be marked as a player message as well, so it cannot be used to fake kills or saves. Max 250 characters. Messages from both roles are indistinguishable from each other and are displayed in a random order.
Rebel Medic/Terrorist militant guy: A message will be displayed in the phase transition message if the Rebel Medic successfully protects someone, or if the terrorist militant guy successfully protects himself. These messages are indistinguishable.
Hippie: The Hippie's ability affects the Doublespeaker's ability to vote as well. The affected player will receive a host PM informing them that their vote has been disabled, and will not be allowed to "fake" votes in the thread (i.e. they will not be allowed to post in bold red text for that day).
- Power usage and lynches are optional, but all players should display signs of activity.

NOTE: I edited this game compared to its submission in Mafia 27 (specifically concerning the Hippie role).

Town wins if all the werewolves and The Stranger are killed.
Werewolves win if the number of surviving town members equals or is less than the number of surviving werewolves.
The Stranger wins if all of the werewolves and all of the specials are killed.
Lynch votes must be in red. Bolding is optional but highly recommended.

Werewolves
Werewolf: Decides with the other Werewolves on who to kill each night.
Werewolf: Decides with the other Werewolves on who to kill each night.
Half-Lycanthrope: Decides with the other Werewolves on who to kill each night. Cardflips green when inspected or killed. During each Night phase, the Half-Lycanthrope may choose one of two things that will happen when he would die during the night. Once he chooses one of these abilities, he may not change which one he can use until the next Night phase.
1. He saves himself and becomes a regular Werewolf, cardflipping red upon inspection and death and losing all other special abilities.
2. When he chooses this ability, he must also pick a player. That player will die when the Half-Lycanthrope dies.

Town
Seer: May inspect a player each night, revealing their color to the Seer.
Acolyte: Acts as a normal Townsfolk, but becomes the Seer when the current Seer dies.
Priest: May save a player from death each night.
Huntsman: May kill a player once per night. If he kills a Town member, he loses his power for the following night.
Lover: Acts as a normal Townsfolk, but is in contact with the other Lover.
Lover: Acts as a normal Townsfolk, but is in contact with the other Lover.
Townsfolk: Can vote to lynch a player each day.
Townsfolk: Can vote to lynch a player each day.
Townsfolk: Can vote to lynch a player each day.

Madman: Acts as a normal Townsfolk, but cardflips red upon inspection and death. Is aware that they're the Madman.

Third Party
The Stranger: Can kill a player once per night. Alongside being able to kill a player, he may choose one of three abilities each night. Once he chooses one of these abilities, he may not change which one he can use until the next Night phase.
1. He can paint himself green for the Day phase. This paint wears off the next Night phase.
2. He can place a mysterious ward on himself. If he would die during this Night phase, he may save himself.
3. Once throughout the entire game he may use this ability, invoking the anger of the Old Gods and crashing a wave into the village. This ability roleblocks every single player (not including The Stranger), and kills off a player chosen at random (this can also include The Stranger). Once this ability is used, The Stranger cannot make a kill during the following Night phase, although he can still use one of his other two abilities

The Dark Wizard & Cursed Mythical Creatures

Dark Wizard: Can choose what color they flip as at the beginning of the game, and they are also immune to nightkills.
Basilisk: Anyone that visits them during the night phase will die, unless they have a mirror.
Black Dragon: Can take someone to their cave every night phase, disabling their ability that night phase, and also destroying any items they have.
Red Slime: Can trap someone inside their slimy form each night, silencing them for the next day phase


The Good Wizards & Good Mythical Creatures

Forensics Wizard: Can find out the color of someone each night
White Dragon: Can protect someone during the night phase, and if that player is targeted, they’ll die instead.
Mirror Wizard: Can give someone a mirror every night.
Orb Wizard: Can give someone a X2 Orb every 2 nights to make their lynch votes permanently count as 2 unless destroyed by the Black Dragon.
Blue Slime: This Slime is able to absorb white magic of fallen wizards and mythical creatures, and therefore, on a night, if a blue dies, they can target them to gain that blue's ability. Will flip as green until it gets an ablilty of someone, in which it'll flip as blue for the remainder of the game. If it targets the Dark Wizard, assuming they picked blue, then nothing happens.
Dragon Duo(Green Dragon): Knows who the other dragon is, and can discuss with them who to set ablaze, killing them, if one of them die, they can’t choose a kill target anymore

I don't get why the Mirror Wizard has a 2 night cooldown. His item is way more situational than the Orb Wizard's and their cooldowns should be swapped
Does the Green Slime choose a blue after he's died? Also, what happens if he chooses the Dark Wizard (assuming he's made his color blue)? Will nothing happen?

I would lower the number of teams and/or number of players on each team that have abilities.

Just to be clear you can submit it as-is; it's approved. But like many people have said it's pretty hard to understand and that's probably why not many folks have voted for it, or signed up the time it was voted in.

EDIT: Also I'm done reviewing games.

It's not even something they can control and they even realize they were visited until the day changes, when the message pops up.

I took the very exact role mechanic EpicMafia uses on the Loudmouth role they created. I can change that to explain better real quick.

One thing I never understood bout silencing in mafia is, can you talk about non-mafia stuff to other players if two friends sign up?

Example: I have co-comme rated on both Sanct and bossedit8's videos (I know bossedit does not play mafia) and if one of us is silenced, would we also not allowed to do other actives as well? The same thing goes for Skype calls as well as the entire forum wide. Does it mean no internet access to a community related to the SMBX forums?

I changed one of the May-Mays into a painter; he can paint people red each night. Is that enough?

That's a little extreme just for Mafia, don't you think? It just means that you're silenced in the game for however long the duration is. I don't think anybody is going to stop you from doing anything outside the game, because that would be mostly against your will. Just know that if you do speak about the game in any way outside of its actual thread or in its context (meta-gaming perhaps), you could get a game ban, at least that's what I've witnessed in other places that play Mafia/Werewolf.
