Smbx 1.3.0.1 is lagging

When ever I start using the level editor, I hear the coins sound effect play 4 times when it starts loading. Then, once I start a level it takes longer than it should to load, and whenever I jump, turn around, or an enemy appears, the game freezes for 5 seconds. I Have tried reinstalling smbx 1.3.0.1, scanning the computer for viruses, but it never changes. Also before I played smbx when it was lagging the first time, I deleted episodes, games, and programs that were made or installed when I was younger, I am not sure if deleting files was the cause, because other games on my computer are working fine.

Can you give us your PC specs and informations? Also if your PC is very old then it's best to get a new one even though it will cost stuff or maybe get a different one that is better so you can play SMBX flawlessly.

Try downloading SMBX 2.0 maybe? I know it definitely decreases lag in certain places, though I'm not entirely sure if it'll help with your specific issue.

SMBX 2.0 works perfectly and does not seem to experience lag as 1.3.0.1. 1.4.2 also works fine. SMBX 1.3.0.1 must contradict some sort of system update, as a lot of people seem to be experiencing lag at a similar time and all have the same solution of deactivating sound.

Flawlessly ain't happenin' due to the way the game was made. Running fine is more feasible. Running flawlessly is an absolute nada. (filtering issues, optimization issues, etc) :p
(it'll run at 60fps but that shit ain't gonna be perfect, I don't even think redigit would know how to do that at the time)

It runs pretty much the same as 1.3.0.1. I can't say the same for 1.4.2 because I've never touched it.

But yeah, SMBX runs on pretty much anything (including a toaster/2003 celeron), so I'd have to agree with everybody in terms of "it's probably a windows update."

I have the lag problem on 1.3.0.1 and SMBX 2.0 works perfectly. I use 1.4.2 the most and it does not seem to be affected. I have not heard of 2.0 or 1.4 being laggy. I think the best solution for all of these lag problems would be to get 2.0 or try to see what is causing this lag (it must be a setting that affects sounds, since the lag disappears when sound is deactivated) and change some computer settings.

yeah the way sound was coded in wasn't the best (the game tends to lagspike when switching audio sources, which isn't good because that means you're loading data weird in that series of frames, but I wouldn't know without a disassembly)

Also, the earliest case of this lag goes back to May 9th. I'm not an expert on coding, but I think by changing some computer setting, the lag will disappear (assuming it was a windows update) since the update might have messed with the audio setting that SMBX 1.0.3.1 need to process sound effects fast. The game can produce sound fine since the music does not lag. What the game lags is when it loads a sound effect. I've been testing it and it sometimes works fine, sometimes lags a little, and sometimes takes more than a second of lag, every time I jump.

Hopefully it might get fixed. Also, I just figured out that Windows 7 still has updates, so that also explains why Windows 7 user also have that problem.

Then maybe you have not gotten the update yet(the updates are given out periodically) or you had your setting made in a way where the update didn't affect you.

You can try, but other users have said that reinstalling SMBX does not fix the lag problem.
