Today I wanted to play some SMBX. I loaded it the same as I usually do. It loaded and the coin sound played three time (which is strange) and then it froze. I have tried reinstalling it. Everything and I can't get it to work. Please could someone help me fix my game. Thank you

What I think is the problem is that you changed some setting in your computer. You said it worked fine before so they should not be any reason to suddenly stop working. Do you remember changing some computer setting?

I am on Windows 10 and I have not changed any settings beforehand. It's only SMBX too, I can run LunaLua fine. Even the folder that the game is in is very slow and freezes often. This is very strange as it was working before.
EDIT: Just tried again with the same problem. This time i waited for a long time and eventually the game loaded, but it was "Not Responding" with a white screen and the title screen music was jumping and looping all over the place, similar to the coin sounds.

I am having this same exact problem as well!
It does the stuttering coin sound
and it takes MUCH longer then it should to load the game, or the level editor.
If I attempt any main function (jumping, spin jumping, turning, grabbing, etc.), the game lags, and the music stutters.
I have tried to fix this problem by : re-downloading SMBX, restarting my PC, and shutting down my PC.
But to no avail.
I have not had this problem before, SMBX used to run fine on my computer.
I have done nothing to my SMBX files, or my PC, other then install sublime unity, and sublime unity completions on my PC recently.
Here is my system info using speccy :
ino, shit right?
Please help me solve this issue.

Maybe it's a bug with certain computers then. Well, hopefully someone can find a fix so I can play again.

If LunaLua works just fine use that - it's just SMBX with added stuff. All episodes that don't require LunaLua will work exactly the same.

But I can't use Lua...
For some reason I can't install Microsoft .NET Framework 4.6.1.
I keep getting this error message : "Microsoft .NET Framework 4.6.1 Developer Pack Fatal error during installation. Microsoft Visual Studio 2015 Shell (Minimum) User cancelled installation."
Here is the log if you need it :

So either I need help installing the essentials for Lua, Or I need help fixing my copy of SMBX 1.3.
EDIT : Game works fine when sound is disabled?!

I am seeing this behavior as well, on both of my PCs, one of which hasn't been updated, changed, or restarted since the last time I played, earlier this week.

Yes, I would but when I get LunaLua working it's not full screen and has banners at the side. If I click full screen it goes to the corner of the screen. If this is fixable I would rather use the original launcher. For the time being however I will have to use LunaLua

Disable your audio codecs for SMBX - that should hopefully fix it

---Solution---
It looks like this issue and the extreme slowdown that comes with it are happening because of the music and sound folders. When I removed them, the game ran fine, but without sound. The non-mp3 files that SMBX 2.0 uses seem to work right. To fix the problem, but still use SMBX 1.3.0.1 if you prefer it to 2.0, then you can download SMBX 2.0, clear out the worlds folder because there's a different game under the same name as the Invasion 2, and copy in your worlds and the 1.3.0.1 exe that comes with lunaDLL (the original doesn't work) and the game should work fine.

About that solution, I noticed a little problem. It's kind of a hassle, but, for some reason, the game won't replace custom gfx when you save the level. You have to save and then open the level again to get the gfx to appear
EDIT: It looks like it's happening inconsistently, but that re-opening will always correct it

Randomly started working again. Go figure.
