Mariothon X

The name of this suggestion is a suggestion for what this idea COULD be called. Other names would be fine, assuming they would fit.
Mariothon X would be an event spanning 48 hours (or any short amount of days) in which the point is to create a SMBX Level. The level must be sent in within 12 (this can be modified) hours after the event, or you are disqualified from the competition. If you modify the level during the 12 hour period, you will also be disqualified. The levels will then be judged, and the 3 (another thing that could be changed) winners will be announced, ideally they would be rewarded with something.

There have been lots of SMBX competitions before, so this really wouldn't be anything new. If you want to run one, though, I'd suggest you post it in the General SMBX forum.

It's a somewhat interesting idea on its own, but I can't see it working in this community. It sounds like the usual contest but with stricter deadlines. The time limits could be modified, but then it would just resemble the normal contests even more. While it could potentially be fun in an environment where people could enjoy the challenge of making and submitting something in a hurry, even our normal contests usually involve a deadline extension or requests for one, as well as many of the submissions coming in towards the end. Even if a few people did make levels in time for your contest idea, they might end up very rushed and of poor quality.

Thanks for the feedback. I am aware the quality would be poor, so some time to prepare graphics and music would be good. An idea I had during the time I thought of it was raising money for charity. A different thing entirely however would be a contest for newbies to help build up their confidence. I know a few people who would probably enter. I know I would.
