Review of Two Towering Trees
Level Design/Gameplay (weighed 70%): 3.0/10
This level wasn't very fun to play. A lot of it was cramped, bland, and the backtracking in the first tree was very unnecessary; you could have just placed a door at the top. Although there wasn't any cutoff, the level wasn't appealing from a design point-of-view due to the lack of coins and the placement of NPCs. Some NPCs especially seemed to be overplaced (such as the Cobrats in the first tree). The boss battle wasn't very fun. It really focused on the graphics to make it interesting because the Birdo would just fall off its platform and then end up being a normal Birdo battle without anything special except for unfairly sped-up projectiles. This level overall had a pretty good atmosphere and concept, it just wasn't well executed.
Graphics/Sounds (weighed 30%): 7.1/10
Not all of the graphics fit perfectly in this level, but for the most part it was okay. They didn't really help develop the atmosphere and unleash its full potential in this level even though really could have (using roots, moss, etc.), however they didn't take away from the level either. The vanilla music fit fine, although I can even think of a few musical choices off of the top of my head that would have fit this level better.
Overall: 4.23/10 (Average)
