A SMB2 Level

Postby SomeRandomGuy » Sat Apr 30, 2016 10:33 am

This is my first level, A SMB2 Level! Great name, right? This was kinda a learning thing to find out how to use the editor and stuff like that. I hope you enjoy :D

By the way, if you're stuck at the vine part, climb all the way up to the top and you'll be taken to the cloud part :)

If this is actually a smb2 level why does it use the smb3 waterfall bg?

Also some things you should do in the future

- A bit longer, this was quite short done in under 20 seconds
- Less npc spam, didn't look that good with all the ninjis being everywhere
- some bgos would be nice same with some more coins
- extend the end level plattform to avoid death that can happen

Thanks, I'll take your advice and update it. I couldn't really find a fitting background for it, do you know of a SMB2 background pack or something like that?

Also, I couldn't find that much bgo stuff for SMB2.

Thanks Tinkerbell! That will help alot. I'm planning to do a SMB2 styled episode soon, and I'll use your advice to make that better.

I'm having trouble getting the custom graphics to work, do you know how to do that?

Review of A SMB2 Level

This level was just too short. It also really lacked coins and good NPC placement. The overall layout in terms of blocks and movement was nice though since it provided the little bit of variety with the sky section and had some aesthetical value from the use of the logs in addition to the normal overworld tileset in addition to a few BGOs, which there definitely could have been more of. One major issue with this level, besides it's length, is that when the player spawns from the vase into the last section, due to the NPCs there, the player can die really quickly if they don't act really fast. In the last section as well, the player can die after grabbing the exit orb due to the width of the platform it's on. It would have been better if this was much wider or even just had something, like some more logs, to act as a barricade to prevent the player fom falling off.

2.8/10 (The Trash Can)
