Sorry if I cannot find the right place, but I've just got SMBX and just played around.

However, I decided to give it music and found the "Custom" part of the music. It had a textbar next to it which I thought was where you place a YouTube ID in. I tried this, but nothing happened.
If I was doing the right thing or not, tell me so in the comments bellow.

You've to have the file of the music track you're gonna use in the level in the same folder as the level. I recommend finding an online mp3 converter and use that to convert the track you wanna use into mp3. Then type in the name of the track and put .mp3 at the end.

Also, to use mp3 files do (name).mp3 in the box
