Frosty Bite Field (Suckerman's snow contest 2)

They're not that bad, but they're not that good either.

Frosty Bite Field (Suckerman's snow contest 2)

Postby Ness-Wednesday » Sat Apr 16, 2016 6:44 pm

This was the second level I've made in this community, and it got an 8.1 from the snow contest back during the summer, which was originally rushed because I wouldn't be able to work on it as my vacation lasted until the second last day of summer 2k15.
If the snow contest had been cancelled, this would've never seen the day of light, but after I've seen the results when they were released, I thought of it and finally I decided to work on a few things and release this level.

I did fix a few minor things like the power-ups and also changed the Megaman x Villager image to be more transparent.

Although, I asked two level judges already to review this so I can improve for my next snow level, I didn't get any response.
So can a level judge review this level please?

I personally consider unofficial contest levels my least priority, since they've already had some type of review. I'll see if I can get to it later though

I really didn't like this level. The snow being set to slippery just make playing the level annoying, the underground sections were really bland, and the boss fight is super spammy. Also you shouldn't place warps on pipes with piranha plants coming out of them as it can cause the game to crash.

You can also glitch out of the level underneath this slope:

And this just looks ugly tbh:

If you changed all that and maybe tweaked enemy placement a bit, this would be a much better level.

Why would you put something like this Megaman x Villager into a level anyway?
Why is it there?
What purpose does it have? I ain't shipping them.

If you wanna ship two videogame characters don't do it in a level.

Thanks for the feedback, I fixed the wall and the Ludwigs now spawn every 30.4 seconds instead of 7.5, I also removed the Venus Fire Traps and added bgos in the underground section.

I don't know what you're talking about inclusion overall, this level was really awful and if you've seen my latest level I did for SVLC, I'm better than this.

Review of Frosty Bite Field

Oh my god this level needs some serious work. First off lemme just start off by asking why the snow tileset is set to slippery. It's snow, not ice. And music track you chose is super weird. Secondly, I don't get why the Toads that replacing the Red SMB3 Goomba are hurting when the first one is friendly. Same thing goes with the Toad that is tossing Bombs. The NPC is set to friendly yes, but the Bombs hurt you. And having the SMB1 Mushroom platforms as roofs for the castle buildings is downright ugly. The level isn't really fun either to be honest since the only thing you're doing is going straight forward without anything exciting happening. The rolling snowballs doesn't really good either as they lack shading. They looks like white spheres. And lastly, the boss. It's ridiculous. Whenever I killed the bosses that replaced the SMW Ludwig, surprise, two more came out. This made it so hard and unfair to actually beat the Toad that is replacing the SMB3 Bowser. And having the moving layers made it just worse.

My Score: 4/10
At least the bonus room was a nice addition.
